Looking forward to this. I'd tried and failed to get into the Total War series with Empire and Napoleon. I thought I was going to fail with Shogun 2 as well - the game has an utterly evil learning curve - but then at around the 8 hour point, its mechanics suddenly clicked with me and I was hooked. It's the best game I've played so far this year - and I'm including Human Revolution in that assessement (though that also rocks).

I'll be interested to see what they did with the DLC - jumping back in time several hundred years wasn't the most obvious option (instinctively, I'd have preferred that they go forward and do the Bakumatsu/Meiji Restoration period instead), but the trailer looks decent.

interesting - will wait for reviews. Have sunk heaps of time into them all except the original shogun - am I the only one that thinks Napoleon was the high point so far?

shogun 2 is an amazing game, but the campaign map of japan is so boring. It is just left from right surrounded by sea.

If only this game but with medieval 2's map.
