The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf - Announcement trailer

Published 3 December, 2008 Duration 1:57

Atari announced yesterday that 'adult' edged RPG title The Witcher will be making a swift costume change and coming over to consoles. Geralt and crew will presumably be toning down some of the content, notably the naked lady picture cards which you collected as rewards for getting a leg over in the first game.

I really hate these bollocks CGI fantasy trailers. Like the TES5 teaser. Actually puts me OFF the game.

I kinda agree, doesn't mean shit,

BUT, one can never have too many epic RPG's me thinks as well, so I'm looking forward to it.

why does pulling a sword out of the mud make a noise like a sword coming out of a metal scabbard?

Another killer app for thhe ps3?

...and Xbox 360. Great news for all console owners. Just depends on if they do a good job with it. If they can keep it faithful to the PC version it could be as good as Oblivion on consoles (which I enjoyed at least).

A brand new IP, from a Polish developer, which sold over 1million units in the first 12months. On PC (which is apparently a dead gaming platform). Is now coming to 360... i'm more than interested!!!

    Like the TES5 teaser.

Are we speaking the same nerd language here and you're referencing The Elder Scrolls 5, ie the sequel to Oblivion? And if you are... Whaaaaaat? How did I miss that?
  • illusiondance #9 4 years ago

all we really need to know is that it is good.
(it sold loads because of this fact and the mini-game of pwning boobs...or something)
There is a good leaked interview/trailer with one of the devs that shows a fantastic fight in a church, CG mind you.

indeed, TES5 (in 2010 or 2011 or something), I saw the trailer for it on youtube briefly before it got taken down. Sported a generic Warhammer CGI "I wish we were as good as Lord Of The Rings" thing. Those CGI things seem to be trying so hard to be epic and enticing that they actually turn out to rather bland.

Game will probably be good though innit, and probably break every PC out at the time. I remember the "Will my PC be able to handle Oblivion?" thread on TES forums before the game came out. My x800GTO2 was penned in the upper reaches of "High" in the guessland that was going on. Turned out that I managed to run the game at about 12fps outside...

That sounds very unlikely. I don't think Bethesda has ever done a CGI trailer for a game.
  • Widge #12 4 years ago

It looked a bit "good" to be a knock of fan effort. I wish I could find proof.
  • creepylizard #13 4 years ago

Wasn't the Witcher meant to be cack on the pc though?

I just vaguely remember reading some negative reviews....in edge maybe....but reading some of those reivews does make it seem quite appealing though.
And there really aren't enough western style rpgs on the xbox at all...

Epic swordsmanship. Hopefully the developers won't fuck up the game. If they don't then I'll be sure to check this out since the PC version of it was awesome.

Bethesda did one CG trailer for Oblivion - the emperor looked utterly different to how he ended up in the game. If you let the menu roll on in Oblivion it plays it for you.

This is the CG trailer that appeared on the Xbox marketplace and around the net.

@Nonni: No, no epic swordmanship, just more ineffective showmanship with the sword....

I agree with you,Widge. Why can't they just have a minute or two of gameplay-videos?
  • Smugglarn #20 4 years ago

@OliverH It's actually Wushu techniques and what he is doing is part of a form, which is a set of techniques that one can use independently of each other.
