The Eurogamer TV Show: Special - Condemned 2

Published 18 March, 2008 Duration 9:40

Johnny has always fancied himself as a bit macho, a fact firmly underlined by his predilection for sharp cardies. What better way to test his manhood than putting him in an Amsterdam dungeon with a mob of deranged tramps, getting you the skinny on Condemned 2?

Brilliant stuff there. I really enjoyed that! :D
The news commentary side was well covered, and there was some good footage from the game.

Aww man I'm in two minds about this game. On one hand it looks fantastic, brilliant graphics, a promising looking combat engine, and a genuinely moody atmosphere seem dominant throughout.
On the other I'm a big fucking wuss, who jumps at pretty much any scare tactic used in movies and games.
And I bet this game will be a right bastard audio wise, and as I've just set up some booming surround sound that's only going to make things worse. :(

    Quite enjoyed that. =D

Xiphos, I wonder whether the game celebrates the player's actions though, or instead, places the player into an unnerving situation where instinct takes over - and there's no game if Ethan flees - a situation even less likely besides which, because the character's perception and reaction have altered dramatically as a result of his experiences (try going back to the start of Condemned CO, and compare him at that point to how he's presented and depicted now) My point being that I'm not convinced that SEGA are looking to do anything more than make and present a compelling game.

It is what it is, the themes covered are what they are, and it would be misrepresentative, and possibly unwise, to be promoting this title in any other way.

Xiphos, I think I might have been reading different previews for this game than you have. Because all I've heard is that once again ammo and weapons to use said ammo in are very very sparse throughout the game. And that you'll be using a lot of environmental objects again, just like the first one.
I don't mind either way, as like I've said, I'm a wuss, and I'd rather have a shotgun than a piece of lead piping. :)

The original condemned was the best launch game since mario 64 and was one of the best 360 games for a long time. Really cant wait for this title

In a moment for middle-class Political Correctness I found myself pondering if it was funny to poke fun at Big Issue sellers and equate them with "tramps"?

But going on the comments plainly its just me.

Don't think it is Booth, but too hot to be at a pro geek meet. Did you get her number Johnny?

I don't think it's funny at all. I'm probably going to play C2 but no need to take the piss out of the homeless or tramps. Quite a fascist attitude if you ask me. EG should concentrate more on games instead of pissing around with more serious issues.
    Get a life Johnny.

@peterfll, it's not just you mate. I thought the 'gag' of beating up Big Issue sellers was in poor taste.

Is it Minkley in that Allied Carpets advert? Is it Allied Carpets - oh, I don't know, some carpet or furniture bollocks.
  • Bulbatron #18 4 years ago

It was interesting that the guy from SEGA that they interviewed, talked about pushing a tramp's head into a toilet bowl, then substituted the word 'tramp' for the phrase 'drug addict'.

I thought the first game was great, so I'll be getting this.
  • DoctorFraggle #19 4 years ago

Lol - I'm gonna find me a tramp!
