    I'm in a queue. :(

Is this a new feature for EGTV?
  • spindizzy #3 5 years ago

"Due to unprecedented demand" blah blah blah.

I do not think that word means what you think it means.
    /Inigo Monoya mode off.

@Kostabi : no, it's been there since the beginning. I see it very regularly (hence my rubbish joke above)

Much better than the first one.

Oh, and Resistance looks reeel nice.
  • Razz #8 5 years ago

I really want to know where Mr Minkley got that sleaveless blue top from though. I've been on the look out for one for a while now.
  • Banjax #9 5 years ago

Is there no way of telling where you are in the queue? Or when you might be able to view said vid?
  • rauper Verified Managing Director, Eurogamer Network #10 5 years ago

If you are in a queue it will start automatically once there is enough bandwidth available to serve the video to you without having to stop and start it. We added the queue system 'cos otherwise if everyone gets it at the same time, it would slow down for everyone.

It's been up for half an hour now so all the people that all jumped onto it straight away will be finishing now-ish :)

Normally the queue moves quite fast but it is a bit slower as this is a 25 minute programme... so please stick with it, or just try again in an hour or two!
  • rauper Verified Managing Director, Eurogamer Network #11 5 years ago

And yes, we know unprecedented is not technically the right word (well it was the first time we had a popular video... but it is no longer unprecedented!)
  • Banjax #12 5 years ago

Right-o. Patience is a virtue and all that... ;-)
  • Yossarian #13 5 years ago

You lot are lucky no one nicked your PS3
  • spindizzy #16 5 years ago

Good job guys - MUCH better than the first one. That was excellent. Really, really good.
  • espy #17 5 years ago

You lot are getting really good at this stuff! Congratulations. I'd like to see a blooper reel for the intro to the xbox part, that walking through pedestrians towards the camera bit. Bet you had to do that a couple of times.

And Jesus, the X0-stories :D Wonderful.

    Very well done!
  • Psychotext #18 5 years ago

I was waiting for the guy walking down the street with the PS3 to be mugged... =)

Hmm... patchy, imho - didn't enjoy it as much as the first one.

    Resistance coverage - good.
    Xbox history/best of - good.
    Football feature - dullsville.
J Allard drinking stories - wtf were you thinking? o_O
  • Kostabi #24 5 years ago

There's hope for video games shows yet.

Episode 2 was leagues ahead of the first one, much more polished and like a 'real' show.
  • Psychotext #25 5 years ago

Did Kristan have ANYTHING nice to say about the xbox other than it had a harddrive and online play? lol

    wtf queue!?

If your servers suck, what about bit torrent or you tubing it?

My attention span is so short, I'm surprised I managed to write this comment, so the liklihood of me remembering to come back and watch this is nil :(

Edit: And the comment lost me my place in the Q!

Presentation sometimes in the 'Bravo' style, for better or for worse.
    Excellent and informative xbox piece
Great pieces to camera by the EG staff

    Grimsby?
  • SeanLB #28 5 years ago

Bluray is important because you can release one disk to release all over the world, with all of the language options. Case closed then.

On a serious note, very GamerTV esque as already said, and thats not a bad thing.
  • el-bandito #29 5 years ago

Stops downloading just before the blueray answer everytime...

I guess the internet gods have decided I don't need to know that information...
  • Rusta #30 5 years ago

    Enjoyed that thank you

Can you put a seperate one up of all the girls ;P
  • Bits #31 5 years ago

Alot better than the first one I must say, really enjoyed it. Look forward to these becoming regular. Also I liked the snazzy graphics and such, don't recall those being in the last one, although I could be wrong.
  • turtlesbreath #32 5 years ago

    "As it Happens"
    Now then, now then, uhoouhoouh!
  • asphaltcowboy #33 5 years ago

  • mingster #34 5 years ago

    Very good, most enjoyable...
+1 for more booth babes as usual.
  • spindizzy #35 5 years ago

Yes, you can never have too many booth babes.
  • Xerx3s #36 5 years ago

So, how is R: FoM different from GoW then? Other than tree hugging and supposed weapons.

    Anyway, nice show. Aftereffects? ;)
  • antorsae #37 5 years ago

    Great show.

BTW, Does anybody know what music (guitar metal) is played at the very end of the show?
  • RoyalBiscuit #38 5 years ago

Would love to be able to add this to my PSP as a video RSS feed (Thats what I do with the Eurogamer podcast).... any chance of that?

  • septimus #39 5 years ago

Looks good, though 16GB of Hi-Def uncompressed assets is not a good reason for Blu-Ray.
  • Solly #40 5 years ago

    Grats, keep towing that line!
  • Machetazo #41 5 years ago

Queuing > stop-starting every time. It's better to be able to watch it all in one go.
  • jmctavish #42 5 years ago

    Lol @ the cameraman
  • Xerx3s #43 5 years ago

    btw, lol @ the grenade.
  • Machetazo #44 5 years ago

Huh, Blerk? I agree with you on he football piece being dull as dishwater. The box retrospective was great, imo, but the J Allard drinking stories were just a class inclusion. That's the sort of interesting, amusing (value-added, perhaps) content that you just won't find anywhere else. That sort of thing is great for lifting the curtain, to a degree.

Very good show, overall, and you EG staffers have more sense than to overdo the oddball element, i'm sure; but I found its inclusion as spice in this show refreshing, and entertaining.
  • Glitch #45 5 years ago

fantastic! Glad you improved on the mistakes made in the previous episode. I think video reviews should be next on the agenda!

X06 stories where class! you guys have a easy life jeez! btw camera man is a legend! more boobs in the next one :D:D
  • spongebob #46 5 years ago

    Incindiery grenades...cool. :D

Resistance looks as great as ever.
  • dudefella #48 5 years ago

Getting there EG, but for God's sake, lay off the alliterations a bit! I know they're fun and all, but I really rolled my eyes at them after the 20th one.
  • Gulag #49 5 years ago

Bit of everything, good presentation, good packaging, good content. Keep it up lads.
  • Arwin #50 5 years ago

Congrats, I enjoyed the show a lot, with indeed the general video quality as well as the content having jumped up considerably. Well done.

I agree that it would be cool to be able to download this to the PSP, like I've done with the last two 1up shows.

And septimus: "Looks good, though 16GB of Hi-Def uncompressed assets is not a good reason for Blu-Ray."

It's compressed, you git. Even some last generation games wouldn't have fit on a 50gb BluRay disc if they hadn't been compressed, and the load times would have been incredible.
  • gizmo #51 5 years ago

Flipik Eck, Resistance looks a bit good, doesn't it?

Silky smooth - I'm worried the 360 would be tearing if it was trying to do all of that :|
  • morriss #52 5 years ago

  • Natas #53 5 years ago

"So, how is R: FoM different from GoW then? Other than tree hugging and supposed weapons. "

Resistance is just a typical fps. At least, thats what I gathered from the shite video of it.

" Flipik Eck, Resistance looks a bit good, doesn't it? "

Sure, it LOOKS good; but the gameplay looked .. um... how to put it.... DULL.

I've shot a lot of things with a lot of different weapons; I need a little bit more to say that a FPS looks great. The AI didn't look any more impressive than Halo either.

Of course, this is all based on that video; not first hand game experience. So feel free to disregard me if you desire.
  • Inquisitor #54 5 years ago

Its not the graphics that impress me on fall of man (call of duty 3 is its equal and brothers in arms exceeds it), its just the setting. I've never experienced a game set in England before, and I love the genre of alternate history. I'd rather this was coming out on the 360 instead of gears, ah well.

  • Scimarad #55 5 years ago

Excellent stuff; Loved the Resistance and Xbox articles but skipped the football bit...
  • SuperBas #56 5 years ago

    Good points mentioned for Resistance:

    - It's set in Great Britain

    - You're not shooting Nazis

    - Everything is asking the CPU what to do. Just like every other game, ever.

This game will be so average it hurts.

Oi Minkley - stop with the 5 words strung together that rhyme please! :op

Much better than the first one.
  • dr_faulk #58 5 years ago

Jay Allard really pushed the success of the Xbox. Hmm, yeah, what a clever man. "Mr. Gates, I think if we lose €4 Billion on essentially buying ourselves a position in the games industry, we might just get somewhere." Y'know, I don't mind the Xbox brand, the X360 has great titles, but nobody, please, for one minute, attribute any kind of cleverness to what these people are doing. It's the most shameless display of money-wasting I have ever witnessed in a business, and parts of me are surprised that nobody has stepped in to say something about anti-competetiveness, what with the Microsoft games division essentially using the rest of the company's wealth to back its loses and gain market share on companies whose sole business is videogames. Don't worry, I'm well aware of the success Microsoft will have with the next Xbox, and when Vista is in full swing and Micrsoft finally have their "Live" image spreading throughout all their products and have managed to keep one-up on the likes of Google (i.e. learned how to make proper software), they should have enough sheer *wit* to become successful, rather than handing good money after bad.

    RANT. OVER.

Excellent video. The slow-mo video of Resistance with the guy explaining the SPU stuff was great. The footy bit was pants though..it could have done with more footage of the actual game.

    I like footage ;)
  • EmiliasHorse #60 5 years ago

    A good watch thanks.

I had to chuckle at the bloke explaining that Blu-Ray allowed him to put European languages on a disc that would not fit on the US release without chopping content. What language do Americans speak? English. Oddly enough that HAS to appear on any Euro release?
    Edited by 1 at 09/11/06 @ 02:06
  • EmiliasHorse #61 5 years ago

    Yup Kristan looked very miserable.
  • JediMasterMalik #62 5 years ago

    ^HAHA You're a retard.

Because obviously, all Europeans would just love to have an english only game wouldn't they?
  • Psychotext #63 5 years ago

I can't say I was overly impressed that it was the only advantage he gave.
  • tobi #64 5 years ago

definate improvement over the 1st one.
  • fantabulo #65 5 years ago

I think the pervyness is a little over the top. Just make it a little less extreme-closeup-in-your-face.

@ EmiliasHorse: I had to chuckle at the bloke explaining that Blu-Ray allowed him to put European languages on a disc that would not fit on the US release without chopping content

This sentence is very confused, hence the retard comment. I think what you meant to say was "I had to agree with the blokes straightforward explanation that a multilanguage game requires more storage space for the additional audio tracks, and with future releases DVD capacity may not be enough".

It's a simple concept, surely? regardless of format?
  • EmiliasHorse #68 5 years ago

Space is not the consideration when it comes to localization. A Japanese game FF series for instance is first released in Japan. Then translated to English for the US market and finally French, Italian, German and Spanish for Euro release. Do you think this will change? Sure they could add every language known to man but will not because it costs and adds time to development.

I will stand corrected if FFXIII is released in Europe at the same time as Japan. We will no doubt end up with a disc containing every language but a lot later because of localization time. And for that reason the bloke on the video was not making Blu-Ray sound appealing. We will always be the last in the chain.

"...Microsoft games division essentially using the rest of the company's wealth to back its loses and gain market share on companies whose sole business is videogames..."

Whilst you're absolutely right Dr Faulk, Sony did exactly the same to Sega and Nintendo years back and from that position Sony became the darlings of the industry. Bottom line is, they all want your money. You get "choice", they get rich :-)

One thing that's easy to forget is that despite us loving to despise these big corp's, the people who create these groups / divisions usually do have a genuine passion for what they're doing - they want to bring you the best hardware and software. Sometimes we love those individuals and sometimes they're complete t055p0t5 but that's life right ;-)
  • Crashmasters #70 5 years ago

    On the blu-ray issue:
Does anyone really believe that you can import a cheap US or Japanese PS3 game and play it in your European PS3? Before it's released in the UK?
Call me crazy, but somehow I don't...
  • Subquest #71 5 years ago

    @Emilia'sHorse:

You realise that they don't just have to translate the text right? I presume you realise that voices and such have to be done too, and that audio takes up a lot of space? Therefore logic dictates that if you produce a game containing several european languages (rather than individual discs for France, Germany, Italy etc) this is going to require more space.

You seem desperate to form an association between release schedules and blu-ray? The only factor which concerns a storage medium is how much space their is, and the transfer rate of the data.

The developer said they appreciate having more space to work with. He said the chances are they'd max out a DVD even with one language, so a multilanguage disk might have to lose other stuff to accomodate more than one language.

Seems a no brainer to me.
  • Xerx3s #72 5 years ago

This game will be so average it hurts.

    So, EG score: 9.5 then?

Because obviously, all Europeans would just love to have an english only game wouldn't they?

Actually, yes. Localisation in terms of in game content is the worst thing ever.

    On the blu-ray issue:
Does anyone really believe that you can import a cheap US or Japanese PS3 game and play it in your European PS3? Before it's released in the UK?
Call me crazy, but somehow I don't...

No. Sony says: region free but at the same time it says that you may not import and plans to close down all import shops. Rendering the region free effectively useless and nothing more than a nice spec on a list.
  • UncleLou #73 5 years ago

    Good video.

Didn't know (or had forgotten) that there was such a massive difference between Xbox sales in the US and Europe.
  • PedroTheLion #74 5 years ago

Kristan, Britain's very own Cristopher Walken.
  • GiantHaystax #75 5 years ago

Resistance fall of man gut "no games that we know have been set in England"

    Sure they havn't....
  • Bluetooth #76 5 years ago

Kudos to the cameraman for those extra closeup footage shots of cleavage. It's the closest some of us losers will ever get to some :(

What the hell was Fahey on about regarding the Xbox pads... I don't exactly have "gorilla sized hands" - in fact they're quite petite, and found the original pad comfier to use on some games, notably FPSs.

Halo's importance in establishing Xbox as a credible gaming format cannot be understated?

Erm, it probably can, and has been.

I think most would agree that Halo's importance cannot be OVERstated, but maybe that's just me...

    LOL
