Still feels very much like a flashier version of Deus Ex. It does look like a fun game, but I'll probably hold out on buying it for now, as I'm not really feeling the relevance.

wasn't really a fan of the co-op demo but will be giving the single player a go via rental at least
  • artibeus #3 3 months ago

I wish developers would fuck off with Dubstep in their games. We're not all 13 year old COD kids.

there's something special about the animation when shooting a gun in this game that i like. it wasn't in the trailer above but i noticed it in a gameplay video
  • Eldritch #6 3 months ago

Looks okay, but character models and animations could be so much better.

Still, seems to be an interesting blend of Deus Ex and Mirror's Edge.
  • Golgo #7 3 months ago

    "Showtime!" Lol. Kill the writer.
  • razzafazza #8 3 months ago

its not made by the riddick-developers, most if not all of them left Starbreeze and work elsewhere these days.

but hey, its not syndicate* either, so who cares about even more false advertising with good names.

    * mind you i m no "WAAAAH this is a FPS" whiner, i d play a syndicate FPS ... but a syndicate FPS would be about replaceable agents wreaking havoc in huge levels with tons of civilians ..... not some douchebags like MILES KILO, AKUMA (still cant get over these retarded names....) and their personal sob-story about revenge wrapped up as a linear as fuck, scripted to hell corridor shooter like this appears to be ;)

edit: does EA actually tell the press to namedrop "Riddick" all the time ? i mean the large personal changes in starbreeze were all over the news .... journalists should know this is not riddicks developers yet pretty much every syndicate related article mentions it.

Loved co op demo . Pre ordered, certainly won't be game of the year but think will get a lot of hours out of it. Especially as it is a hard game for once.
  • evild_edd #10 3 months ago

All use of the Syndicate name aside, the trailer was decent and it looks like a solid FPS. Unfortunately I've neither the time nor the money at present, so it'll have to wait.
  • glottis0 #11 3 months ago

@artibeus - I've been getting into dubstep recently. I previously shunned most Dance music because I found it too simplistic and repetitive but there's something interesting about some of this stuff (like Skrillex and Kill the Noise). I'm 28 and I'm more likely to be playing Shadow of the Colossus than COD...so either I'm the exception that proves the rule, or you're a bit off the mark.
  • BigDaddy82 #12 3 months ago

    Is that Brian Cox?
  • Nithron #13 3 months ago

I'm not sure having someone say "I never wanted this" in their launch trailer is helping differentiate them from Deus Ex. Unless it was a deliberate shout-out, in which case, props.
  • xythen #14 3 months ago

Damn, when I saw the name I was expecting them to use the Skrillex remix of the original theme:

100x better than the song they used, IMO...
  • Miths #15 3 months ago

What's a dubstep? A severe misspelling of doorstep?
  • Eldritch #16 3 months ago

  • jonfon #17 3 months ago

In homage to the Brian Coxes of the world they really missed a trick not having Things can only get Better as the trailer track.

Really this looks as close to Deux Ex as one could possibly manage. 43 seconds in I was wonderin why Adam Jensen had suddenly turned up with a shaved beard.

I wonder how far in it takes for Brian Cox to betray you? Brian Cox always betrays you, if I was in a movie with him I'd probably just shoot him at the start just to save myself some grief later on.
  • Gearskin #18 3 months ago

Don't get why people keep saying "it's not Starbreeze" because key people left the studio. The ethos of Starbreeze remains.

Pre-ordered this today. Loved the demo. Love the sleek, sterile design. I'm totally sold.
  • drhickman1983 #19 3 months ago

I'd like to play this, but I'm in no rush. Looks pretty solid and ough to have a decent campaign. But regarding the choice of music, at least it's not totally anachronistic like Tinie Tempah playing over scenes of renaissance Italy in the old AC:Brotherhood trailer.

Some dubstep's good, most of it's shit. But that's a criticism I'd level at absolutely any musical genre I have knowledge of.

Really enjoyed playing the co-op demo with friends and I expect I will be doing the same with the full release. Not sure it's a game for PUGs
  • Nuada #21 3 months ago

Dubstep? I know what dog's poo is!
  • PixelPirate #22 3 months ago

    This is my caring face

    . .
    -

    boring game is boring.

Bares no relevance to the original lineage and is a generic fps right down to the crappy vengeance story.

plenty of more interesting games to play.

Shame because a decent syndicate follow up would have had my attention.
  • evnewell #23 3 months ago

They actually said 'I never asked for this.'

How badly do they want to be compared to Deus Ex?
  • overcorpse #24 3 months ago

All you lot going on how this looks like Deus Ex need to realize this has been in production since 2009,so if Starbreeze thought "hey we need to copy Eidos" then they have done a fucking awesome job in 5 months.

@razzafazza wow you really must be one disgruntled person. Every comment by you on Syndicate revolves around people leaving the company.
People leave studios all the time and from what i know there are still plenty of old time Starbreeze folk there that worked on previous games.
  • razzafazza #30 3 months ago

    @zegerman1942

and what are you except quick to get personal just because i m pointing out the fact that the whole "by the makers of riddick" thing is hyperbole if not flat-out false advertising ?

i m aware that people in the gaming industry change studios all the time but if you bothered to do some research instead of going personal you might have noticed the situation at starbreeze was different than just the normal gaming industry fluctuations and thats why its ridicoulus hyping syndicate with riddick.

heck by your and that other dudes logic they could have named that development team bullfrog and claimed it to be the makers of the original just because they might have hired 1 audio guy from the original......

but hey, its the internet - anybody who posts something i dont like must have issues ... help me actually think for a second and question the marketing crap we are bombarded with, aye ?
  • captainwhiskers #31 3 months ago

    Run of the mill trailer.
I still can't figure out what dubstep is! Must be getting old.

  • FarbrorBaku #32 3 months ago

Nah not nearly enough wub wub to be dubstep, nice trailer though.
  • Atropos #33 3 months ago

I'm 34, and dubstep floats my boat for some reason. Don't dance to it, because of obscenity laws, but it's ace for work.
  • geeza2020 #34 3 months ago

    Skrillex is shiiiiiiiiit
  • marty_k #35 3 months ago

Co-op demo suffered serious framerate problems and was nothing more than just another FPS with breaching not being THAT important.
  • Monkey_Chops #36 3 months ago

Kind of irks me how that soundtrack is now being classed as dubstep. It's techno. Proper dubstep is dudes like Burial, Boxcutter and even James Blake.

Anyways, the game looks good, but still don't see the reason why it should be part of the Syndicate series rather than its own thing.
  • Lunatic4ever #37 3 months ago

I'd be mad impressed if this game's campaign turns out to be longer than 6 hrs. It just looks like that.
  • Cobalt_Jackal #38 3 months ago

WTH, thats not Dubstep. It sounds like a combo of electro with elements of progressive house mixed in.
  • Cobalt_Jackal #39 3 months ago

@Monkey_Chops I agree its not dubstep at all (i don't know how they can even describe it as such). But to me it sounds like Electro-House.

  • Nikator #40 3 months ago

I'd hardly call that dubstep, more like that shitty glitchstep crap skrillex and others have made. I miss the good dub days.
  • zegerman1942 #41 3 months ago

@razzafazza Has there been a chunk of people who left and formed their own studio? yes. Are there still a core of people at Starbreeze who worked on previous titles? yes. Have some of the people that are still at Starbreeze been trained by and learned from those that left? I'd say so.

Which leads me to believe that Starbreeze as a studio and as a game making philosphy is not as much changed as you might believe.

At least i'd give them the benefit of the doubt. And i'd actually play the game to find out.

I am not getting personal, and i apologize if you felt that way, but i just felt your comment had nothing actually to do with the trailer or the game, but it felt to be a random negative comment towards a studio.
