    o m g

That is some pretty awesome piece of CGI
  • vx-chemical #3 12 months ago

Looks nice! but isnt it supposed to be 5000 years before the movies, those troopers look a whole bunch like clone troops
  • Tinrib72 #4 12 months ago

Just give me the full film and I'll be happy...and dont let Lucas near it.
  • Markitron #5 12 months ago

    @vx-chemical

Star Wars cannon has always been like that in every medium, technology doesnt really change in it
  • Brodie #6 12 months ago

So hundreds or thousands of years before the original trilogy, and trooper armour is kinda the same, Empire ships look a bit Star Destroyerish, the Sith are rocking the Vader look, battle droids have hints of AT-AT in their face, and smugglers ships have the old top and bottom Falcon turrets, with the exact same decor?

Is their only one school of design in the Star Wars universe?

    Hmmmm...

    ...need to upgrade PC...

As for design, this was the same for Knights of the Old Republic. I guess the reasoning is that once technology has developed to a certain point over thousands of year then it stagnates.

  • thebuzzard #9 12 months ago

Why would you upgrade your PC for a CGI intro?
  • Nuronv #10 12 months ago

Ok that was actually surprisingly good. If they keep that up for the whole game I'm in.
  • Brodie #11 12 months ago

Which is fair enough, but look at the variation in design from Episode 1 to 3, then to the original trilogy.

The ships and armour changes from movie to movie, always aiming towards the X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Star Destroyer and Storm Trooper of the originals.

Yet here, it's almost exactly the same. Silly! :D
  • coojam #12 12 months ago

Not to mention that that cowboy might as well be voiced by Harrison Ford.
  • Cjail #13 12 months ago

Just put it this way: they have similar looking uniforms because that is the style of the Republic forces.

Also I have downloaded the trailer from the official site on my PC but when I copy it on my PS3 it has no sound, can anyone explain me that.

Brilliant, I want a movie of this high standard right now! lol

Characters were a bit bland but boy oh boy was that a nice fight scene. Like the slow-down for the gunslinger Han Solo man.
  • CASE #17 12 months ago

Apart from that hat, that was better than the last 3 films put together.

    Yes I'm still bitter!

It's Han solo in a cowboy hat!
  • Kermode #19 12 months ago

Pity you had to reencode it and turn the quality to shit.
  • MMMMMM7 #20 12 months ago

Yep, George Lucas should hire this people to make the cinematics for
The Force Unleashed 3 and CD Project, creators of the Witcher 2,
do all the rest of the game.

  • Er-El #21 12 months ago

That was even more epic than the movies.

@thebuzzard: ...I'm referring to upgrading for the game; I've not upgraded for well over 5 years.

@Brodie: The designs weren't that different in the original trilogy compared to the prequels. We just saw more styles e.g. the Naboo with the Republic's ships being similar.

+1 Brodie. How can they have progressed so much design-wise between the PT and the OT (Star Destroyers, Trooper Uniforms, Fighters), yet give them a few thousand years and they change nothing.

This trailer shows what a great creation the SW universe was in the first place. It's just a shame Lucas treated it like shite for 20 years.

    :(

Give these guys the movie job. Stunning as always from the game cinematic team.
  • FortysixterUK #28 12 months ago

    Day.

    Purchase.

    Damn them to hell......
  • Climhazzard #29 12 months ago

Who needs George Lucas and co anymore, Bioware need the job.
  • Fatbobbybob #30 12 months ago

I think Blur Studios do all the cinematics. Amazing job, some of the best CG I've seen in ages.
  • coolbritannia #31 12 months ago

Really nice but can only echo everyone else's comments re: design. Also, the characters and set pieces were entirely derivative of other characters and set pieces we've seen before. Han Solo in a hat, Millennium Falcon, asteroid sequence, internal Death Star II escape sequence, and slow mo has no place in Star Wars.
  • Scopeh #32 12 months ago

You guys are all basing your assumptions about the game, on this CGI cutscene that was made by another company called Blur. The actual game play is nothing like that. However for me I will play this game anyway just for the CGI cutscenes and the Lore! Nothing like a bit of lore to make killing swamp rats that little bit more meaningful.

Lightsaber battles as they should be, not all fey-dancing. :)

    What's John Marston doing there?
  • HarryTuttle #35 12 months ago

Great video. Shame the actual game still looks a bit cock.
  • Lukree #36 12 months ago

I truly dislike what Star Wars has become.

    Quite nice trailer, but
    - Zero originality
    - Everything copied from ep IV-VI
    - Except lightsaber fights which are too fast (in my opinion Jedi knights aren't acrobatics and sword fights should be more like chess)
  • _Price_ #37 12 months ago

These videos are the best thing to happen to Star Wars since the original Knights of the Old Republic titles. I still really wish they'd have gone with a 'proper' sequel rather then an MMO (which I'll never play....), especially if they'd have used the Mass Effect character modeling.

    Ah well, some you win....
  • hiddenranbir #38 12 months ago

Shame the game-play won't be a fraction as exciting as that and be like WoW.
  • dstarr78 #39 12 months ago

    Best...cinematic...ever!

Hope the game can match it
  • Lemming81 #40 12 months ago

"Yep, George Lucas should hire this people.."

Wait a sec, as cool as this was you do realise practically every second of it was a nod/homage to a scene from a Star Wars movie? There wasn't anything original there like the previous teasers they did.

I can't be bothered atm, but I bet someone could scene by scene break it down.

  • curtlikesmeat #41 12 months ago

That was really epic, if they ever get round to make the Star Wars TV series I hope it's like that.

    HOWEVER

It hasn't got anything to do with how this game will play has it, and now that I've watched it, I don't need to pay to watch it again do I Georgey-boy?
  • wellsie #42 12 months ago

was that the voice of Marcus Fenix?
  • andywilkie35 #43 12 months ago

Er, is that a fucking cowboy?
  • Ryboy #44 12 months ago

If I can wield a double ended lightsaber and a single lightsaber I will be a fucking happy camper. If not, then adding this into a trailer is just fucking stupid.

Still, day one purchase. Let the haters come. I'm sure WoW had it's doubters initially...
  • levitate #45 12 months ago

This was indeed better than anything I've seen before from Star Wars. If the game is half as thrilling I'm in.
  • Triggerhappytel #46 12 months ago

So, how about that useless bastard George Lucas gets the folk over at BioWare to rewrite and direct the prequel trilogy again? 'Cause those six minutes were better than anything he's done with the franchise since commissioning the books 20-odd years ago.
  • stepleftstepright #47 12 months ago

KOTOR universe == more interesting all 6 Starwars movie combined.

And KOTOR III single player only game please. I don't have time to invest in MMO. I don't want Chinese prisoners to level up my character either.
  • sifujames #48 12 months ago

The lightsaber battle in that clip was better than any in the prequels.

    *edit for spelling*

  • CholeriKen #50 12 months ago

    Awesome intor sequence. Truly epic.
As for people complaining about the design being the same as we have seen before and the character types being drivative: That's exactly what the game and the fans need. A familiar place as a home. After all, the old movies are consensually the real deal, so their ideas should be the center piece for SWTOR. This way people will find familiar and beloved things that let them experience Star Wars as it is in their minds. From there, there can be other planets with new and stranger designs and characters to bring fresh ideas. I find this trailer to be ver well crafted in many regards.

However, as always the CGI doesn't represent the ingame experience. But it shows that storytelling is biowares thing. Which is good!
  • Orikk #51 12 months ago

  • FWB #52 12 months ago

Those six minutes had more character and more story than episodes 1-3 put together.
  • Matthew_Hornet #53 12 months ago

    1) Every single thing in this video is an homage to a scene from the movies, mostly the original trilogy, so no, I wouldn't want them to make a movie just like this. I've already seen Star Wars. But they did that on purpose, so it's not a problem. The problem is:

    2) If they hadn't spent so much time and energy on stuff like this (the trailers all look amazing and must have cost a fortune) maybe they would have come up with something better than a tired WoW clone. Tanking, kiting and cooldowns are NOT REQUIRED BY LAW. I don't want to 'draw aggro'. I wanted to experience a galaxy far, far away, and instead I'm getting Azeroth in drag.
