    Hu?

Why does it say Gouken wins?
  • LFace #2 4 years ago

    It said Gouki didnt it...
Also, why do so many of the SF4 vids have a lack of voice for the round announcement? Some have them so its not like its something the game doesnt have so why isnt it on them all....

Remember that many characters have been renamed outside of Japan.

This game is going to kick ass.

    Wow... impressive

I believe Gouki is Akuma and Gouken is 'Sheng Long'/ Ryu's master.

It's the Japanese version where they have different names to what we know.

e.g. Balrog was originally called "M. Tyson" (as in the real life boxer) but got changed to "M. Bison" to avoid a legal wrangle.

America Capcom didn't think it suited him though so they gave that name to the boss instead (this being SF2) and made up the name "Balrog".

That's why some people refer to them by their 'class' e.g. they call Balrog "Boxer" because in America he's Balrog but in Japan he's M. Bison; M. Bison is called "Dictator" and Vega is called "Claw".

In Japan Akuma is Gouki. Gouken is Gouken though- Sheng Long doesn't exist other than Ryu's win comment in SF2.

    Some really confusing crossovers =s

Actually, Balrog wasn't simply made up to account for the M. Bison switch; that's what who we know in the West as Vega was called.

Basically, Vega got changed to M. Bison, M. Bison to Balrog, and Balrog to Vega for the west.

Akuma's name is Gouki in Japan; the announced winner was correct. I know that's already been cleared up, but I wanted to comment. :p

Really looking forward to this game, on a related note.
