Ken sucks obviously but they are both lame characters.

Saw footage ages ago on YouTube, does look tasty and I really like the new remixes of the stage music I've heard.

It's just a shame we've had to wait SOOOO LONG for it.

well it looks like its easier to control than the XBL version thats for sure! Like the gfx.

since when has ryu been pronounced 'ree- ooo'? i thought it was 'roo' (as in the old street fighter 2).

    anyway it looks ok.
  • ArchiRag #6 4 years ago

doing the same three moves never looked so good!
  • rhinoxious #7 4 years ago

Is someone actually playing that, some of that demo footage looks remarkably familiar, like it's a demo loop or something?

I'm still not convinced that SF2 is playable on a regular 360 d-pad, so I'll either have to get a joystick (more shit in my living room) or try that pad improving mod.

They really need a different voice at the end of the rounds.

    Guile > Ryu > Ken

Though i really enjoy playing Ken, far more fun than ryu's defense-athon.

    Ryu > Ken, discuss. Correct.

since when has ryu been pronounced 'ree-ooo'? Since, like, forever!

Duh, U in Japanese is pronounced OO.

I can understand why they kept the same number of animation frames, but it does make it look odd. Those high res gfx, and juddery.

Also, no way is anyone pulling off those moves using the 360 pad. It was unbearable in SF2 XBLA.

For proper RYU spellig see (hear) the anime with jap dub.

Ken is more fun than Ryu btw.
  • Waffleaber #13 4 years ago

I've always pronounced it R-eye-OO and am too old to change.

And Ken is best, only suckers who can't dragon punch think otherwise.
  • symmetry #14 4 years ago

I always thought they were identical.
  • HEAVYface #15 4 years ago

yeah - but ryu is one syllable not two, hence 'ree-oo' sounding stupid. *shrugs*

Demo freeze > Ryu > Ken

Am I the only one that thinks this looks horrendously jerky and like a bad flash animation with nice crisp visuals? I had really high hopes for this (even though I dont own a 360, but its on the cards) having been a SF fan since SF1 back in the day and remember when SF2 first entered the arcade. This though.. it needs spit and polish on the animations. Too jerky. Way too jerky.

Glad the original audio is available via the options menu, and I can't wait for the full game.

I like both Ryu & Ken - I play as everybody.

In response to all of the yap... the 360 pad is OK after the d-pad is modded with sandpaper, but not a patch on a decent Saturn, SNES or MD official 6-button pad.

This is maybe being played online, which would explain any short freezes in gameplay maybe...?

Also, the game doesn't add any extra animation frames, as this would break the gameplay if handled wrongly, plus bump up the budget. They've just redrawn every sprite and background, and remixed the audio.

I don't know, yoof of today...

ugh! The site went weird and wouldn't display!

Sprites look great, somewhere between SFA3 and SFIII in style, though obviously restricted to the low number of animation frames from the original. Certainly solves the main problem I have with SF2 these days, which is just how dated it looks.
  • megamixer #21 4 years ago

Lame characters WTF are you on all SF peeps are their for balance.
  • sailesh #22 4 years ago

this is The best footage I've seen in terms of quality. I cannot wait to play this game and as said above the frame rate is possibly the main issue as it just looks jerky.
  • Ryze #23 4 years ago

It looks great on the 360.
  • TRUTH #24 4 years ago

Why bother with this when SFIV is out soon. The animation is real let down...Was looking forward to this until seeing the animation - not smooth also didn't like the flash as it looks to flowery and soft for a finishing move.
  • Cadence #25 4 years ago

You're not the only one LFace, I think it looks fucking awful.
