Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - Physics dev diary

Published 25 January, 2008 Duration 6:32

Darth Vader is a busy chap. Aside from the whole universal domination thing, he's recently been announced as a Soul Calibur IV character and also has the training of a new, immensely powerful disciple to take care of in The Force Unleashed. Poor lamb.

This is looking seriously impressive but I dread to think how the Wii version will handle it (Not well methinks).

Bored with talk release it already, then I'll decide. Personally I think they have gone silly with the force, give me BF3 anyday!

Must admit, I'm very impressed with the video, but I'll certainly reserve judgement until release. The thing that worried me was the Action/Adventure tag that it's got.....I would have loved to have seen an Action/RPG

Still, all Star Wars fans will have had their hopes dashed before with previous releases, let's just hope this ends up as good as it looks in the video..

    :-)

It looks absolutely terrific. Visually beautiful and the technology on display is really interesting. If it's even half as much daft fun as JK2 it could be a classic.

I just wish it was coming to PC as well. And that their resources weren't being wasted on porting to old tech like PS2 and to a lesser extent Wii.

Seriously looking forward to it though.

no way does the Wii have the power to run all these physics based engines at the same time? if it can i'll be highly impressed by the software engineers who managed to code it.

other than that, this game is looking stellar. hope there will be a decent amount of play time.
have they mentioned whether there will be multiplayer with this or not?

The bit where he cuts down those trees makes me feel weak all over.

    Looke! I are using fisicks!

But yes: very impressive. I'm playing through the Jedi Knight games now and this seems to be a big step forwards.

Now give me KotOR 3 or suffer my wrath.

    Or, y'know, a stern e-mail.

"when the player steps into this world and they see it they're gonna say for the first time 'ohhhh.... I'm in Star Wars!'"

    NO!

    They're won't.

    You dicksplash.

I liked the stormtroopers not being able to shoot for toffee. From what I remember of the first films that's definitely authentic.
  • grantc7 #15 4 years ago

christ, I hope this game isn't disappointing. Does look very nice though.
  • Triggerhappytel #16 4 years ago

So, this is basically a Dark Side version of Jedi Knight. Interesting. The footage is undeniably awesome, but this could still go very much either way in my opinion.

Also, the PS2 and Wii versions are going to be shitty ports. There is no way they can handle that level of tech.
  • megamixer #17 4 years ago

I see people have been saying how are the Wii and PS2 going to handle this game but it's more like how are the PSP and DS going to manage the game they have no hope next gen only I would say.
  • CHAOS_BROON #18 4 years ago

the wii version will just include a bunch of shitty gimicks for... wait for it.... waving the wiimote to... your not going to believe this.... actually swing a lightsaber.. AAH! honestly we dont want that we just want to play an incredible looking and techno advanced star wars game it simply wont be any good on wii or ps2 because we all know that them versions will have to be dumbed down .FACT.
