Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - Dev diary

6 (6 ratings)

Multi-platform games can be spread a bit thin. Often when a studio spreads is resources over several machines, something gets lost in translation on at least one. Hear why this won't be happening with The Force Unleashed, no matter how you play it.

Tha molecular engine does not look real at all. Things still break pretty unconvincingly.

Quite clever, unique content for every platform forcing you to at least buy more than one version if you want to get the full experience. Diabolical

All very nice, but where's the innovation with the PS3/360 versions?

From the trailer films it's more like they make you feel that your light saber is a blunt as a butter knife.

Seems to me that they spent so much time on the force powers, that they forgot the primary weapon of the Jedi. As old kenobi said "A Jedi's light saber is his life". Surely what we should be seeing in the close combat is limbs flying everywhere. Instead I'm seeing a 20 hit combo on a storm trooper with zero blood and not even a cut as a result.

Ok LA, are you listening?

Monkey Island 5 (plus the other four on a compilation disc).

KotOR III.

You don't have to create now franchises to be innovative....

They'll never officially do amputations etc., that's not the way LA likes to present itself. Every time that happens in the films it's a really big deal.

Might be a fun game despite that, though, I'm bored of lightsabres and they never did exploit force powers that well.

Still, why no PC version?

Certainly agree that LucasArts milk the Star Wars licence too much, but equally I can't say I'd be mad keen to see present-day LucasArts attempting to revisit Monkey Island, especially after my disappointment with MI4...

Monkey Island should rest unless Ron Gilbert and/or Tim Schafer is hired. I'm happy to see plenty more Indiana Jones games, though. So start milking!

Zak McKracken would also be a welcome return.

Ditch this and follow the above advice to bring out a new Monkey Island. Oh, and a new TIE Fighter. On the PC.

Dont listen to this grumpy lot.

if it's a good game, i'll play it regardless of whether starwars has been milked or not.

Yeah, if it's actually lightsaber responding to your moving of the wiimote (see also: baseball bat in wii sports before you swing) then that's fantastic. Otherwise, I might as well get Lego Star Wars. Preset moves = been done.

Why does the TIE Fighter explode when a thrown stormtrooper hits it at 00:38?

Why does Vader hold his lightsabre behind him at 04:49?

Anyway, this seems like the same spin we get when every new Star Wars game comes out. So this game is basically Dark Forces 5?

The reliving the movie scenes, except completely differently with different powers sounds a little daft.

The PS2 impressed me, to be honest I think next-gen consoles still have a fair way to go before they make me look down on a PS2 as a current and credible gaming console.

Hate these promo movies. Seems to be they do not understand people want to do some cool stuff with the sabre, not lob people all over the place. Meh.
