Brilliant video. Doesn't actually really tell you anything.

@jstar It tells you what paths the consular may choose in his career, along with how aproximately he will end up looking in endgame gear and what his abilities/approach to combat will be.

Just like all the other character progression videos, really.

Spent the weekend on the beta and was really suprised how much I liked it! Good story, good voice acting, decent graphics. If you want anything other than World of Star Wars though you should look elsewhere.

I like MMO's and I liked this. No real suprises and they have taken no chances at all but the beat sured up this buy for me.

Was more impressive than I first thought. Although why every MMO other than Warcraft builds giant, empty cities I'll never know.

My main problem with it is that it doesn't feel like star wars at all. Take out lightsabers and you could change title of this game and nobody would even notice.
Quests are great and engaging (most of them anyway). I like companions system. Technically graphics are at best sufficient but aesthetics are lacking. Some parts of the game are insanely huge, which is not good idea as they feel empty even on open beta test. Not to mention they require a lot of walking which is boring because as I said before aesthetics and design are uninspiring and don't make your jaw drop to the floor like skyrim. Animations are weak. Light/dark side system feels lacking.
To me this is way to expensive for what it is (isn't this the most expensive client of all current mmorpgs?). I will wait for significant price drop and then play it.

If WoW is the only/first MMORPG you've ever played then, yes, most of the others you play will feel a lot like it. What do people expect?

It's a solid MMORPG, well delivered and a lot more technically sound then any other beta I've experience over the past decade and a half. How quickly people forget the likes of The Matrix Online or Planetside.

I played this weekend too (and picked consular)

The game doesn't offer anything new over what warcraft already did very well circa 3 years ago. There may be a few new systems and minor tweaks in a Star Wars environment but nothing to retain anybody who has tired of an MMO in the past.

Despite this I persevered through curiosity for about 10 hours over several sessions until level 11 by that time I had had my fill and logged off. I wasnt curious enough to try a different character.

The graphics are good, storyline seems ok, voice acting ok but you cant fast forward or skip voice acting. PC requirements are also pretty high which will be a barrier to entry.
I think it will do well initially, then tail off and depending on what they pull out of the bag for the end game, go the same way as Star Wars Galaxies.

Its a shame, but if a company is going to spunk a few hundred million on a game they could ensure the prototype is fun, and offers something that nobody else does.

@linksdad "The graphics are good, storyline seems ok, voice acting ok but you cant fast forward or skip voice acting."

Odd. I found that pressing the space bar enabled me to skip through quest dialogue.

Agree with what others have said here. Well executed beta, very solid experience, but didn't come away feeling like I'd had an MMO epiphany. That said, I enjoyed what I played and will probably get into this when it comes out next month.

I also took part in the beta, and I see this basically as KOTOR 3 with MMO elements. I reached level 18 with a Jedi Guardian, and from what I saw, solo quests were more than enough to let you level smoothly. In other words, you don't have to do group content, if you don't want to. Thus, if you see it from the angle of being a KOTOR sequel with group content, rather than an MMO, it works quite fine, I'd even say on par with first KOTOR. The companion system is good, it's more limited than in KOTOR, but there is a difference when you get your first companion. Besides, companioins have their own stories like in KOTOR, I just got a hint they couold be quite intriguing (like a dubious past of a certain jedi padawan).

The highlight of the MMO element is definitely the flashpoints, which are very amusing and fun to play. I particularly liked the group conversation mechanic, this is indeed a worthy novelty, and can swing the course of the story in a different way. I can't say anything about PvP, because I am not very interested, but people seem to like it. Space combat is just another mini game, like pazaak or pod racing in KOTOR, nothing special at this point. Crafting was also not too impressive, espeically after I was getting much better items from quests or barter vendors for my level, in other words it was far behind what you need.

All in all, I believe the game at this point has much greater value for solo players (because of the class quests), and possibly PvPers (once again, I don't speak with any authority here). As far as group content is concerned, it's mostly flashpoints that are worth playing. I didn't have a chance to see any operations (the SWTOR name for raids), but if they are on par with flashpoints on terms of story, they will be worth doing as well. Other than that, I think many traditional MMO players may remain disappointed.

I really enjoyed the Stress test beta.
That said... the EA Origin exclusive £45 digital download is taking the fucking piss. Even Game etc are selling physical copies for £39.99
    That's bullshit money.

If this is a consular video, WHERE is the ambassador?
