    I thought that said useless!

I know it is a game and things but it just looks so strange for two Jedi smacking their light-sabers on a guy that is ignoring them while he's shooting at someone else.

Fuck sake, let the hating commence.
  • Ged42 #4 10 months ago

The gameplay looks like the normal MMO stuff, but I like the story bits, the world seems to have more life than WoW.

Finaly a mmo without walls of text.....

    Kain! Great voice actor
  • Itown #8 10 months ago

It doesn't look terrible, but I wish they had made KOTOR 3 instead. I don't think the group moral choices will work well for role players.
  • darkmorgado #9 10 months ago

I see the ever-so-slightly racist stereotype of "He has an English accent! He must be evil imperialist scum!" continues unabated.

Slightly more seriously, the graphics look seriously poor. Character shadows are restricted to cut-scenes, there's no self-shadowing, no realtime lighting, low-poly models and environments, shocking reuse of assets in only ten minutes of gameplay footage...

Honestly, the graphics wouldn't trouble the first xbox (AA aside), and even KOTOR had better lighting than this.

Where the fuck has all this money gone?

Finaly a mmo without walls of text.....

No, just loads of poorly-acted dialogue to sit through instead.
  • Vyggo #11 10 months ago

Still can't shake the feeling of a weird mix of typical bioware rpg and mmo. Not sure those really mesh together that well, but I guess you can play this solo.

It is kind of weird though that it actually seems to look even more graphically outdated than WoW.
  • Shikasama #12 10 months ago

It's like they haven't even TRIED to make the gameplay or combat more interesting than WoW/Rift/LOTRO etc.

The story stuff is great but what is the point if I am going to be on the same grinding raid focused loot conveyor belt that made me quit Warcraft in the first place. Surely they could have come up with something better than the old 'Swap DPS until something runs out of hitpoints' and 'avoid the fire'.

I see you're upset, but I'm sure a ragtag band of yanks will sort those dastards out, that's your objection right?
  • ZizouFC #14 10 months ago

Yeah.... Shoulda just made KOTOR 3.
  • darkmorgado #15 10 months ago

    @dirtysteve

Surely the fact I followed that with "slightly more seriously" might have been a clue that my tongue was firmly in cheek?
  • darkmorgado #16 10 months ago

    tl; dr.

Fight the power? Lol, fuck off.
  • Seoh #17 10 months ago

Amazon have just emailed me with a release date for my pre-order of SWTOR, 31/12/11, wow if thats true they are only just sticking to a 2011 release date.
  • Inmediasress #18 10 months ago

This just looks awful and not just the graphics this is basically star wars in warcraft mode only with voice acting which is nice but the novelty will wear off quickly.
Oh yeah and they should have made KOTOR 3 instead.
  • TriggerHippie #19 10 months ago

"OMG JUST SKIP IT YOU NOOOOOB"

"But I havent seen this before"

"FFS JUST SKIP IT, I GOTTA GO FOR DINNER SOON"

    "...."
  • Flipper79 #20 10 months ago

So does the released game come with annoyingly unnecessary commentary from Dallas Dickinson?

I want this to be good but how is this going to work endgame when you're replaying the same things over and over? Can you skip all the cutscenes and dialogue choices?

  • Scopeh #22 10 months ago

Yes this looks nice and all the first few times you run the "Instance" but will get incredibly annoying after that....
  • AphoticCosmos #23 10 months ago

  • scoop #25 10 months ago

Hmm. All that comes to mind is:

    "Once more, with Feeling".

If everyone broke into song and dance, I might buy into it. Wooden acting, however, is worse than no acting...
  • Dapper_Dan #26 10 months ago

Yay for worn out stereotypes! The good guys sound American and the evil guy has a posh English accent, fantastic >.>
Honestly, we should just lock up every member of the English upper class, they're obviously out for world/galaxy domination.
  • Velios #27 10 months ago

I can't wait for the south park episode based around this.
  • Dave #28 10 months ago

This actually looks kinda nice, better than what I've seen from SWTOR so far. Sure, it's not revolutionary stuff, but if I can get 50-100hrs worth of fun for 50 euros, then why not buy it? It might not get the same 6 yrs WoW got from me, but it's better value than a lot of other games I've bought in recent years.

    Off to pre-order.
  • MaxHughes #29 10 months ago

    It's a trap!!!
  • aplsin #30 10 months ago

Yeah it looks nice enough, not ground breaking or anything but if you're into WoW-style MMOs (which I am, currently enjoying Rift) and like Star Wars (which I do) this looks like it's worth a try. GW2 seems more ground breaking tho so that tickles my hype nerve much more than this.
  • CaptainKid #31 10 months ago

Wow, I'm surprised how bad it looks.
Horrible animations and where are the shadows?
  • Kanjin #32 10 months ago

'Sit for a minute looking at the 'Loading...' screen.

    Meh

    'Hits refresh button'

    'Video starts playing'

    'Page suddenly refreshes.'

    Son of a ....
  • Megalodon #33 10 months ago

For the love of...the gameplay looks so cold and unattached just like any lousy MMO out there. Just terrible. I don't even play WoW, but I honestly hope that WoW will crush your puny little game into dust.
  • obscured021 #34 10 months ago

He looks like a freaky Austin Powers , game looks like it will play like the old republic games, but only time will tell.
  • havoc2011 #35 10 months ago

I honestly thought I was watching a Team Fortress 2 video when I saw that burly character at the start. Was hoping the characters would be more realistic and less cartoony looking.
  • Zaiz #36 10 months ago

I'd assume a reactor reset would be a fairly necessary task, so why connect it to the device that opens the engineering bay to space? I don't und-Oh, right, got to shoehorn in some of those Moral Choices!
  • butler` #37 10 months ago

    this looks tragic
  • skabba1972 #38 10 months ago

Will be saving my pennies for Guild Wars 2...but then I decided that a long time ago.

I like the look of it personally. Looks a little more streamlined and less clumsy than some. I'll be buying it when it's relesaed.

  • Chibi-Kibou #41 10 months ago

Yeah.. I wasn't keen before but that put me off for good.

While I'm sure the 'story driven' part appeals to some, for me it's just.. well, confirmation my character and their experiences would be taken out of my hands, despite apparently being given a little control.

That and the graphics still look.. unpleasant, even setting aside quality issues. Not to mention those horribly choppy animations..

  • George-Roper #43 10 months ago

This looks pretty bad, especially in the face of Guild Wars 2.
  • jefranklin18 #44 10 months ago

This has some of the worst voice acting heard for a long, long time. Was hopeful that this would break the run of unappealing SW games but no luck there.
  • 5h1nj1 #45 10 months ago

Looks totally outdated and it's not even out yet.
I would at least expect characters to have shadows in a modern game. But not just that. The overall look from every gameplay I've seen is so boring.
  • ColdCoffee #46 10 months ago

Played this..... EA Louse was dead on, its a poop sandwich. Biggest fail of 2011 next to BRINK.
  • FortysixterUK #47 10 months ago

I may have mentioned this before...I am SO buying this game.
    Like.
    whatever.
    Blood.
    You is moist.
( My pathetic attempts at cretinous street cred seemed miles ahead of the game, and despite being middle class and white I still spoke with a faux black/rasta accent, wore my trousers around my knees, displayed my undies and simply refused to utter any whole word in an intelligible manner. Hmmm, with a dry cool wit like that I could be an action hero. Or get stabbed by a 15 year old white, but thinks he's black, kid)
