It all looks so... WoWy. When it was first announced I was so excited for this to be the next big step in MMO's, but it's just so... familiar.
  • SClaw #2 12 months ago

They never said they were reinventing the wheel. They were just putting some gold hubs on there and polishing it up. There have been a crap load of "next big steps" with MMOs and most of them failed hard. Gamers, plainly, do not want invention. They want the same old thing in fancier clothes... which is why COD is so huge. That's been the same game for years and years.

And, in this case, I'm actually fine with that. Good solid, well tested if over-used gameplay, nice graphics and good Bioware storyline. It's hardly setting the world on fire and leaping bare arsed into the future... but it'll play nice and will be fun. I'm sold.

Looks like a fun take on the mage class.

I find the lack of excitement towards TOR... Disturbing.

    - - - -

In on the other hand can't wait; Until then, I'm am exploring the TOR lore, by reading Deceived and Fatal Alliance, together with the comics. Loving every minute of it BTW. Would recommend to all those who are both fans of KOTOR and are looking forward this. ;)

    Looks pretty solid, like it!
  • thewool #6 12 months ago

    Looks pretty clunky to me.

I love Star Wars to bits but just have no interest in this title.
  • Kanjin #7 12 months ago

Agree with the other posters that it looks pretty solid. Good music score too!
  • Crovax20 #8 12 months ago

I'm not really seeing why I would play this game over any other MMO yet. I'm still waiting for an MMO that handles combat decidedly different.
  • actionfitz #9 12 months ago

    rather underwhelming :(
  • Inmediasress #10 12 months ago

That sand people cave earily reminded me of Ogrimmar lol.
Tha fact is that it really is wow with light sabers. I see nothing new, same old tank&spank. Same old instances and as far as I can see from this and other trailers same old end game raid instances. When the novelty wears of it will be nothing more than a grind fest till you max out your char and go raiding every night to kill the arch sith lord whatever for a shiny new spaulders of destruction.
They can pounce about all they want with their voiced dialogue but that doesn't amount to a great experience you just can't have an epic story in an mmo at least not in a wowcopy based mmo.

Impressed by the scale and detail of the environment.

I wonder what the use of Light-side points is when being a Sith, does anyone have a clue?
  • technotica #13 12 months ago

I think TOR will either get 9/10 or 8/10 depending how strong the hype affects the score.

    Oh, mixed feelings about this.

Stilted conversations - bad pauses between character lines, and meaningless arm waving.

Speeder bikes.. aren't they supposed to be FAST?? Also, what no physics? No gravity? All a bit jerky and unrealistic.

Fight! Hang on, those enemies are just standing there like bowling pins. Knock em down, yawn.

Whirlwind? What whirlwind? I've seen Twister mate - that ain't no whirlwind!

I'm thinking that sand looks a bit flat and unimpressive.

    And I'm watching the sorceror's "golem" pet. He's not very...animate. C'Mon, that's just lazy.

Big fight in the caves - I really started to lose interest at this point, as I'm sure I was watching World of Warcraft characters wielding lightsabres and guns. That might be nice, except it doesn't look quite as good as Warcraft (i.e. a bit bland).

Maybe they should have hired Blur as creative directors.

  • CaptainTrips #15 12 months ago

@Hamflank - in KotOR whether you went light side or dark side dictated which force powers you got - as dark side you got things like force choke, while light side you got things like force push.

Considering they're including a lot of original KotOR features, I would assume that this is the same.
  • curtlikesmeat #16 12 months ago

I think it looks kind of bland; I'm done with MMOs until there's a revolution rather than just the next evolution.
  • Vampyre_Warrior #17 12 months ago

Well this looks...not like I hoped it would look. Im really disappointed. It looks bland, fighting is not really exciting, the map looked empty and "boarded up" on all sides, "summoning vehicle"(seriously, come on Bioware)...

At least the guys at mythic can show Bioware what to do when their mmo tanks after 3 months...
  • MMMMMM7 #18 12 months ago

This simply is not for me and the way I feel about Star Wars
a STAR WARS game I would be waiting for.

The sorcerer class in STAR WARS ??????. Are there sorceresses and
magicians in the STAR WARS universe or I'm I missing something ?
Sending electro bolts and just holding like a stick the lightsaber
the most leathal weapon in the galaxy ???

Sorry but is this a fanatasy MMO or are we speaking about a STAR WARS game ?
I'm a bit confused and untill I get some answers totally disappointed.

    Looks like a boring game.
  • Ares42 #20 12 months ago

Although it's sorta inconsequential the recovery through seething looks just ridiculous. Can't wait for wipe recovery in raids and you'll have like 5-6 guys walking back and forth being angry.
  • actionfitz #21 12 months ago

is there really any point to that guy holding a lightsabre?
did use it once to cut anything? might as well just be an, admittedly rather bitchin, harry potter wand...
  • Daeltaja #22 12 months ago

Looking better alright, just can't believe it's taken them this long to show off any concrete footage. The mage cast animations are fairly stiff though.. could do with some more character. Yes, the comparisons to WoW are dead on the money, but it's a very smart move on Biowares part.

Look at Rift, it's almost a direct copy, but has some unique systems that differentiates it. Bioware + Star Wars + familiarity = recipe for success.
  • butler` #23 12 months ago

    standing still pressing 2, 2, 3, 5

    boring hell
  • Dave #24 12 months ago

I still wonder if recording voices for all the quests was a good idea. It seems stupendously cost inefficient for an MMO. Sure, it's cool to hear the first time you level a character. But after that?
  • Tkozy #25 12 months ago

@Shinetop Agreed. Even has the same xp/objective/damage colors.

@SClaw I just don't know if it's enough to really stand out in the MMO field...

I'm just amused by the friendly wave the imperial agent gives the seething sorcerer.
  • Reaver_v1 #27 12 months ago

On the fence. Still not sure why they went MMO with it but nevermind.
  • dstarr78 #28 12 months ago

Amazing...really liking the music as well to make it feel more star warsy
  • hiddenranbir #29 12 months ago

Wow, just seeing enemies standing, lifeless...waiting for a player to engage them is just so...it just destroys the illusion doesn't it?

Sure, that's what all mmos have done...but...with GW2 doing away with this...you'd think lifeless shit would be one thing that should be banned in game design, as a standard.

But of course it is Bioware...who are just wizard at sucking the soul out of immersion experiences recently.

I'm more freaked out the character is being referred to as 'my lord' and HE is the one going out on something that seems like a routine job for a peon. Of course I never got that in bog standard rpg mentalities.

And as critical as I am; I think I would prefer a life-sub option. That'll give me the time indeed.

I was expecting so much more from this game.
