Star Trek Online - Reveal trailer

7 (8 ratings)

Gene Roddenberry's creation has already spawned ten films (one more is on the way) six series, dozens of games and hundred of stories, now an online universe is on the way, increasing the split infinitive count exponentially. This impressive trailer is all rendered via the in-game engine and features most of the familiar races and craft, just make sure you're not the unknown Ensign on the away party.

''Those who strive for peace, must be prepared for war..."

Except the Federation never are, and avoid combat by any means. This look like it has Instanced Borg-infested Dungeons.

Oh dear.

It will be interesting how the handle the "one hit" nature of phaser combat.

The thing that most puts me off about this is the ship with the stupidly huge registry number at 1:16. Yuk.

On a second viewing, the Borg ships don't look too bad. There's one ship with quite a cool pretzel-shaped saucer which I like. I'm not too keen on their take of the Sovereign class though. What's that bar for linking the nacelles, and why do the nacelles resemble the NX-01's more than the Enterprise-E's?

And the Clangons killed an Endorian!

The characters look awful. But this could be a pretty great game if they get it right.

Star Trek has always been about the crews, not about ships. Not about fleets. Looks like all the inspiration they got was DS9's fight against the Dominion... :(

I would have prefered if the game set you in the shoes of a crewman, making your way to become officer and finally a captain. I'm still curious but most likely they lost me...

As a star trek fan this is exciting. However, the space battles looked a little clunky.

They should see how it's being done in Nexus 2! This is awesomeP http://blip.tv/file/109399/

That Nexus tech demo looked fantastic. Too bad we'll never see a game made with it since the space combat genre is about as alive as the point and click adventure genre ;(
