I'm going to the Blur launch event tonight, it's going to wheel spin all over this...
  • Ceelion #2 2 years ago

It looks just like I hoped it would, and now all I need to know is if it plays like I hope it would.

The demo didn't get tiresome after about 20 races, so I can't see the game being that uneventful!

The guy on the radio said drift round the corners to fill your power play bar not hit ever other one!

Features like those would certainly make F1 more interesting.

    Day-one for me.

The only tings that worries me is the 'fact' that in almost every gameplay movie the player can not take turns. Either the player hits every corner or slows down too much. Is the drifting mechanic that awkward/weird/bad?

Ow, and is there no bumper cam at all? I really dislike playing racing games in 3rd person view.

There is a bumper cam I'm pretty sure, I can't wait for this game, been looking forward to it since it's announcement back in 2009, managed to get my first play of it at the gadget show and loved it, I've hammered the demo to death.

Friday can't come soooon enough, i have convinced many of my friends to get this game because, I can't stop talking about how damn good it is :D

P.S. I'm not watching this video as i want to see the first 15mins for myself on my system, as I've watched a lot of the other videos.

Kanselier, if you watch that tutorial section in the video you'll see that the player starts off hitting every corner, but after a few laps he's taking them much better. You just need to learn the tracks I think. From a lot of the videos I've seen, it seems like people are determined to drift, even when there's no need (drifting round shallow bends when you already have a full bar for example).

And yes, you can play from a first person perspective (much better IMO).

"I'm going to the Blur launch event tonight, it's going to wheel spin all over this... "

    Yes, yes it is.

The MP beta was amazing. I was just as excited to play it after 15 hours as the first time I ever did.

Split/Second seems to have the originality of a Rolex watch bought in a Chinese flea market.

The car feels like it's from Riiiiiiiiiidge Racer! While the destruction is a rip off of Burnout and the American "OK, now we need to punch through, using Power-Plays" accent is becoming rather annoying now.

    Boring.
  • Kanselier #13 2 years ago

@Neems. Thanks for the info :) I was just wondering about the drifting because as mentioned a lot if not all the movies I have seen the player can not take a single turn without bumping into stuff.
  • BBIAJ #14 2 years ago

    @zedee:

Since when did Burnout have destruction anything like this?

Oh no, wait... That's right, it didn't!

Played the demo and thought 'ok' not great but this video has helped me be a bit more intreasted will pick up when i see it cheap. Also once i get a new TV my current one has rubbish contrast so would be unfair on such a colourful game as this.
