In a particularly esoteric, cross genre marketeering move, Namco Bandai has confirmed that Yoda and Darth Vader will be appearing in Soul Calibur IV. Darth will be exclusive to the PS3 version whilst Yoda will appear only on 360.

Vader is clearly the better character in a fight. Yoda looked incredibly lame in Episodes 2 and 3 when he was fighting.

Heh - I bought all three editions of SC2 last gen, so two this time round should be ok ;)

Unless of course there's DLC.

I've always said that the best Star Wars game ever would be a re-skinned Soul Calibur 2 game. Hurrah for Namco then!

It DOES look stupid, though, even more so than Link/Spawn.. Vader vs. Mitsurugi? Yoda vs. Voldo!? Surreal.. How are they gonna incorporate Yoda's small size? You'll only be able to give him a low kick and vertical attacks?

Vader for the win, plus assuming this is using the same engine as Tekken 6 would mean the game native platform is PS3 anyway! So everyone should be happy as PS3 to 360 ports tend to work out ok.

i will get the PS3 version, but would really rather have had Yoda than Vader.


But as a couple of others have mentioned, i am sure they will be released on the other platform through DLC.

If you want a fighter that's relatively easy to get into then SC is a good choice as it's instantly gratifying to play, the gameplay is deeper than smashbros but still easy to get to grips with, SC is a real mans game, not like that CookingMama gay fest on the Wii ;-)

It's a 1v1 (at any single time) game, much more similar to tekken or street fighter than smash bros. It's difficult to say how they're different but they just are...

Whaaaa? They're split between platforms? Aww, that's ass...takes some of the coolness out of the announcement. :( My flatmate has a PS3, so it looks like Vader territory for me, but I'd like to have used Yoda too...maybe I can get my hands on a 360 by then. Soulcalibur was my fave fighter for many years until fightnight round 3 beat it. very different games though so I'll be buying SCIV (great acronym!) then I can finally retire my copy of SC2.

Personally couldnt care less about the starwars characters, just release the damn game already!

I love Soul Calibur and Star Wars, so for me this is awesome, but at the same time makes no fucking sense. Although no less than the Link/Spawn/Heihachi thing, so who cares.

I love SC and Star Wars but, as cool as this is, it doesn't really make much sense. And the whole thing will be broken for me as soon as a lightsabre is parried by a sword (which I also think happens in the trailer).

sounds way cooler than the spawn and link thing in SC2, i only have a 360 and refuse to buy this game unless both characters are in both versions
