The newly announced remake of this 2003 survival horror seeks to recapture the eerie small village atmosphere of the original for the PS3. Telling the stories of ten villagers trying to understand the zombie plague which has befallen their neighbours, Siren allowed you to see through the eyes of the infected, making sneaking around a great deal easier.

The see through their eyes thing seemed good at first, until you get to your first sequence where the zombies/infected STILL stumble out of the darkness at you even though you know they couldn't see you at all. In short encounters seemed to have been put together for atmostphere and made the see through their eyes mechanic useless.

They see anybody alive as a bright 'star' like entity. I'm not sure where anybody would get the idea that you can hide in darkness, that isn't how Siren works.

...did we play the same game? I loved the second one - the first was too punishing and I can understand if it left you a bit grumpy. They seem to be polishing off the rough edges as they go so I'm definitely open minded for the next gen remake.

This is one of the first titles to make me consider a PS3. I love a really good survival horror in the Silent Hill/Project Zero mould.
Hopefully it will be a little more forgiving than the original, though.

No they aren't supposed to be able to see you as the first part of the game (if you'd played it) shows you. You can walk almost upto the girl before she sees you.
You have to distract them and alter their routes to sneak by but, the dark always acts in your favour as they are attracted to LIGHT! The bright star they see is the torch the guy is carrying.
@Mashum
I played 1 and 2. I finished both. The first one was stupidly unfair as it seemed random as to whether they saw you or not while you were hiding. I also hated the character switching as pretty much everyone ends up dead or infected. I loved the fact that you cross the paths of the other characters and really wanted to like this series as it's actually scarier than either resident evil or silent hill. I'll give the remake a look but, let's face it, if it's anything like the previous ones it's going to be a game that punishes the player for the sake of adding jumpy moments.

...it must be a tough call when adding tension at the sake of punishing the player especially as everyone will have different thresholds of boredom and frustration. I didn't come anywhere near finishing the first one, you must have the patience of a saint!

The trouble with the first one is that I stumbled upon the last level very suddenly and feel like I missed out a lot of the story from previous stages. Not sure if I just got unlucky because of the stage structure or if the end of the game was a bit rushed...

Compare the fluidity of movement in the SH series, RE (even the new one), Siren, and a bunch of other games, compared to their western counterparts.
All the Japanese games are stuck in the "You must take 30 seconds to rotate your character, which walks and responds like a small tank" era

The trailer as a whole seems interesting though
