SEGA Rally - Alpine

Published 21 August, 2007 Duration 1:11

The second environment trailer shows the serene peace of a beautiful mountain vista being rudely shattered by the huge carbon footprints of dozens of loud, dirty rally cars. Brilliant.

Now I've not bothered with rally games for a while cos I was sick of having to do time trials and only ever be able to race against one other competitor at the most. So is this the first proper rally game where you can race against multiple opponenets? About bloody time!

How can you call it the first 'proper' rally game because of racing against opponents, when 'real' rally racing is raced against the clock and not against opponents on the track ?

I can understand you prefering this kind of racing game (I agree it does look fun), but to call it a 'proper' rally game is a bit strange.

(Besides Colin Mcrae Dirt also had plenty of races where you were racing against opponents on the track, so did both the Rallisport Challenge games).

I wasn't implying by my question that a proper rally game has to allow you to race against multiple opponents! What I meant was that, for example, Gran Turismo 3 had a rally stage and allows you to race against multiple opponents but I wouldn't classify GT3 as a PROPER rally game because you race primarily on circuits.

So maybe I could reprase my question to read:

Is this the first game rally game that not only lets you race time trials but also lets you race against multiple opponents?
