Played this the other day, ace :)

It's great fun zooming around with the rocket dash...

    Cool game ;)

I definitely recommend playing it on Hard difficulty as the early levels on 'normal' will feel easy if you're an experienced platform gamer. This video is the standard 'normal' difficulty.

    isn't 1200 points a bit steep though?

looks cool, refreshing to come away from the spectrum of gray/brown!

It's silly, but games like this remind me of my childhood. I never owned Rocket Knight for the mega drive, but seeing this makes me wish I did.

I love how, true to its 16-bit, sprite-based roots, thwarted enemies fall off the bottom of the screen in FRONT of the scenery :)

I'll reserve judgement for the gameplay, but the sound effects are out of place and the GUI font looks like it belongs in the newer Worms renditions.

Feels more like a fan made nod than an extension of the franchise, which is a shame.

I'm sure that gem-collection sound is from Peggle...

isnt this Sparkster from SNES back in the day?

I used to have this on the Megadrive - it's either change in style quite a bit or it's not quite how I remember - the theme tune is still the same though!

Oooh. I like that remix of the first level. Hopefully they have some more.

The lack of bosses is a really bad sign though as you would usually find 3-6 bosses in a stage in the original. 1st level had the Flamethrower tank, Water Dragon Robot thing and the Mechanical Caterpillar and the second level even threw you into a boss battle first thing (I practically know that game off by heart, I played it so much).

1200 points is a bit much of a gamble though. I'll wait till a deal of the week.

I loved the original but never got far in the sequel because the gameplay had changed for the worse. I played the demo of this this evening and it felt more like the latter to me, which is a shame because it has some nice little nostalgia inducing touches.

I hate the art style though. The new character designs are bloody awful.

Did anyone ever release a mod/cheat/hack/whatever to play as the bad dude in the original? That was my ultimate dream for an unhealthily long time... (He looked much better in the purple armour than this winged red freak.)

edit: I'll probably pick this up if it ever goes on offer for a much lower price.

1200 points is what, about £10? If this was on disc that would be considered a bargain would it not?

Is it partcularly short, or is this just a DLC-disliking thing?
