Never understood why they called it resident evil instead of biohazard. Did the americans just not understand what a biohazard was?

When it first came out I heard rumour that it was because there is an American band called Biohazard who trademarked the name in the States. No idea if it was true, was a few years ago now mind.

It still doesn't explain why Americans couldn't have named it 'Biologically Hazardous' or something. Corny, but at least not as stupid as 'Resident Evil'.

i don't want to think what it would have been like without that voice when you press start... 'RESIDENT EVIL!'

THAT'S why it's called resident evil

also americans would have run screaming if they saw a box that said 'biohazard'.

The game is called Biohazzard in the US not the UK not sure what penhalion is going on about....either way this game looks great cant wait to get my hands on it

Also remember Biohazard was a side-scrolling shooter over here too. It could have been called Sweet Home 2 and on since the games borrowed heavily from that early template, but instead we got Resident Evil.

Which is fine.
