Red Dead Redemption - Debut trailer

Need 1 votes!

No white picket fences and friendly sheriffs here. This is the Wild West, an aptly named dustbowl of drought, disease and murder.

This looks great. Never played the 1st one though.
I would love to see Rockstar do a game with a fantasy theme (a fable rival or something).

Looks really interesting. I hope it's a wild west GTA using the same engine because that would be sweet... and it has to be a trillion times better than GUN, right?

that... looks awesome. Atmospheric, well realized, its like the west come alive. I was going to say that i hope it is a little more free roaming than the orginal Red Dead (basically GTA in the wild west), but it looks so good i don't think it matters...

That "Mr Marshall, come out come out wherever you are" line is pinched from the old Outlaw fps. Which is no bad thing at all.

Everyone keeps saying 'GTA in the Wild West' but the original Red Dead wasn't really anything like GTA.

I never played the original so I'd be concerned about it having GTA's combat. Something alot tighter and freeflowing please.

Does look good though

@ parablax: why would you even want to wish for Rockstar to start doing a fantasy game? I mean, isn't the fact that they pick up something as neglected and historically deep and interesting as The Wild West the really interesting bit about this trailer? F*uck fantasy, that market is overflooded as it is.

Go go Red Dead Redemption. Looking mighty sweet - keep it realistic... yea, don't make the weaponry too fantastic imho. Grit!

It's the one thing that *would* get me interested in a Rockstar game. GTA and GTA clones bore me to tears.

that's because Rockstar only published the first Red Dead game, it was actually made by capcom. this game on the other hand is entirely made by Rockstar, so Wild West GTA is probably an appropriate description

Can't wait for this. Although I liked Red Dead Revolver, this is looking quite different in a great way. I love the fact it's now free roaming.
It would be awesome if you could rob banks and hold up trains... but it looks as though you play the good guy!

The Lucasarts who made Outlaws and many, many other classic titles back in the 90's is long dead. I'm just clinging onto a bygone era... ;_;

This will have to satisfy my cravings for Wild West frollicks!

@ JahB:

Well, started by Capcom, then they gave up on it, flogged it to Rockstar, and Rockstar San Diego finished it off.

Now, if only M$ could get a working version up on Xbox Originals, and fix the disc version into the bargain!

Actually most people are saying they HOPE its more like GTA in the wild west. And even when they say that, they don't mean exacltly like GTA, They just mean a little more free roaming and open world. Like a Sandbox if you will...

Fantastic trailer, loving it. This could sell a console to me if there's no PC version (and the reviews are good).

This is not a pre-rendered trailer. It's using ingame assets and graphics.

First wasn't made by Capcom, they were going to publish it, but dropped it and Rockstar stepped in and bought the developers.

It's not Wild West GTA! It's Wild West GTE, Grand Theft Equine! Or possibly Grand Theft Loco. ;)

I'm just hoping you don't constantly get telegraphs from your idiot cousin about going to the saloon or steak restaurant.

@PapaSmurf: that still doesn't mean it's ingame footage, just that they set up a bunch of ingame assets and scripted a trailer.

Great trailer; really looking forward to this. I didn't actually like Revolver very much, but I thought Gun was pretty good and the Old West needs more exploring in games.
