  • n30n666 #6 2 years ago

    Looks decent for a console game. Lets hope PC port will be better then GTAIV

    I think we all know how the DF Face-Off is going to go without reading it.

    360 version is 720p runs smoother, has more foliage and slightly higher res textures.

    The only question on my mind is whether or not DF opens the feature by expressing his disappointment in Rockstar's inability to utilise the PS3's hardware and then base the entire article on what could have been if they had.

    ;)

    "Looks like another bayonetta to me for ps3 owners, another fantastic game(bayonetta was great on 360)dumbed down for poor ps3 owners. "

    According to all reviews it gets the same scores and the differences are described as minor - hardy as bad as Bayonetta which was so bad it actually triggered lower review scores on PS3. No need to make it sound worse than it is - the 360 version is not perfect either since people are reporting freezing issues etc. for that also.

    And before I get flamed... I own both systems and ordered the 360 version to get the best single player experience.

    I don't much care about the screen resolution, its not the kind of thing you really notice during play. The lower foliage density on those linked PS3 screens is a little disturbing though.

    Looks like I'll have to bring the Xbox Guide up during cutscenes if my mum walks in. Very 18. It'll be in my hands tomorrow morning, thanks amazon! *Ejaculates*
  • hiddenranbir #16 2 years ago

    That is a lot of conversation on horseback. How are they not biting their tongues?
  • BBIAJ #17 2 years ago

    @AnsensApprentice:

    I really do doubt that TBH.

    Just because Amazon say that they have despatched, doesn't mean that it isn't just sat in some Royal Fail warehouse somewhere, and won't actually ship until tomorrow.

    All online retailers had to sign an agreement with Take Two Interactive not to ship until the day before release, so I very much doubt that your copy is on it's way to yourl right now.

    I'll be happily proven wrong mind, so an update tomorrow would be cool.

    Are those Pinkertons at the start of the video?
  • chrisola #19 2 years ago

    /presses B to look at carcass
    /momentarily loses control of horse

    And one shot nearly kills the guy at the start..yet i bet the player can get shot repeatedly with magical health regeneration...looks like a rental based on this video.

    @chrisola

    I've been watching people play on JTV, and they've been slayed after two or three bullets.
  • makeamazing #21 2 years ago

    @chrisola, oh well not everyone can be happy with this game i guess :)... me i think it all looks amazing, and can look past some things, because open world games of this scale are not easy to make... I really cannot wait to get it on Friday... and with the sound track sounding great, i am wondering if i should get the special edition or not.

  • chrisola #23 2 years ago

    i'm going to rent it first but i hope it'll be worth a buy and a full play through....i've watched some of the other vids and it does look better once things get going
  • tonixuk #24 2 years ago

    Well impressed with the cut screen graphics, more than I expected. The voice acting is superb! God this has been a slow week!
  • TRUTH #25 2 years ago

    I know this game got positive reviews...But! I'm just a concerned that this might fall into the same problem I had with GTA - repetition! I found that most of GTA design was: kill, race, drive, kill - that's i. For a long game, this does become boring as you know what to expect. Even the side or sandbox game play became to familiar fairly quick!
  • Spekingur #26 2 years ago

    Well, in GTAIV you drove around in cars but in RDR you ride around on horses. A horse being something that's alive (in RL) I imagine that riding around is maybe going to feel a bit more personal.

    "/presses B to look at carcass
    /momentarily loses control of horse"

    Actually, that looked like player error to me (which is fine, given it was a first play through and the first time the function was used).

    If you look at the video again, and check the direction in which the horse heads after the B button is released, you will see that the player incorrectly adjusted the position of the stick when the B button was held, mistakenly believing this to be necessary as the camera turned.

    When B was released, the horse naturally changed direction to match the new stick position. If the player had kept the stick facing forwards whilst B was held, all would have been well (which I personally believe is the correct design for this function).

    @Spekingur

    My guess was Pinkertons, just going by the blazer and bowler hat.
  • chrisola #30 2 years ago

    Thanks for that #33, I look forward to not repeating the same mistake on my first play through.
