The first of 100000000000000 times I will see that battlefield ad, I assume.
  • darc #2 8 months ago

    Oh, re: Rage - pretty!
  • chrisola #3 8 months ago

cancelled my PC pre-order until its patched and playable...lol at 'play it on PC and no texture pop in at all' -- clown shoes!

might get it on 360 though as seems the best bet, game looks great....so frustrating
  • telboy007 #4 8 months ago

    Does look good.
  • Pumpatron #5 8 months ago

Looks really good, once I've finished Crysis I'll be all over this.

Tom: "I found Fallout 3 desolate and bleak"

Yeah, that was kind of the idea.
  • Cobalt_Jackal #7 8 months ago

BTW EG why are you playing RAGE on the 360, when Carmack himself said that the PS3 version is graphically superior/the best console version.

P.S. Oh and with reguards to the BF3 ad, it seems EA/DICE are still showing PC footage... they'll never learn idiots.

Oh why, oh why does eurogamer always show games like this on the xbox 360. I mean they do like a 20 min walkthrough of rage but not just rage other games to but never hardly do like a walkthrough on the PS3 format, all I can say is that eurogamer must be heavily xbox 360 fans as it would also be nice to see some walkthroughs on PS3 especially when multi-format platforms.
  • comedyjack #9 8 months ago

Apparently it runs at 60fps on consoles?! Unbelievable considering the detail and scope.

Install on your Xbox HDD and it will run better!
  • CaptainKid #12 8 months ago

Everything especially the scenery looks very blurry when watching full screen 720 P.
Is this like the game is or did something get lost when recording.?
  • LHH #13 8 months ago

    @Cobalt_Jackal

I'm pretty sure during Carmacks' keynote at this years Quakecon he himself said that out of the two, having it installed on a 360 HDD was the best case scenario
  • Laserbream #14 8 months ago

I believe Carmack actually said that given the choice between the 360 and the PS3 versions, he'd rather read a book and have a nice cup of tea.

Am I the only one that just sees a pretty boring shooter?
  • Goodfella #16 8 months ago

Yep the visuals in Rage are kind of 'smoke and mirror's'.

Been trying the PC version (nVidia card so I haven't had the probems AMD users are getting) but the texture pop in is bad. The game looks really nice if you look at everything from afar but as soon as you go up close to anything it's a blurry, blocky uglyfest.

As redbarony said, The 'painted' sky background is quite laughable too.

The framerate is solid but overall very unimpressed to be honest.

    Poor show id, poor show.

If youve got 1.5 GB of Vram you can apparently play this in really highres. the difference is quite astonishing:

i like these talkthroughs, gives me a better idea of how the game is, and if i will like it.
  • Nephirion #19 8 months ago

Why demonstrate the game on the weakest platform ;-)
  • jonbwfc #20 8 months ago

Wow, 1995 called. It wants it's enemy AI back. Are there any bad guys in this game more sophisticated than 'stand off and throw fireballs' or 'run straight at the gun barrel'? I mean, I know they wrote Doom but did they really have to use the same code?

It looks like a 9/10 game but it seems to play more like about 6/10.
  • mukki #21 8 months ago

    quite impressive.
    and it has stairs! wow

    fun to watch
  • danidrums #22 8 months ago

A nice smelly piece of a turd, and the textures pop-up? OMFG! Uninstall in 3, 2...
  • Uncompetative #23 8 months ago

Based on this video RAGE looks like another thinly disguised corridor. Where is the non-linearity? Why do all the enemies run straight at you? Utterly pathetic, but just what I have come to expect from id over the years: next-generation rendering of depressing artwork in an unrelenting claustrophic environment - Castle / Dungeon / Ruin.

Why do we put up with this bilge?

F.E.A.R. had great A.I. that would tactically flank you. Red Dead Redemption gave you a horse, a gun and a wild frontier. It is possible to have a freely explorable FPS without dipshit enemies and lively art direction. Halo managed it. Why accept something retrograde?
  • Uncompetative #24 8 months ago

P.S. Anyone in awe of John Carmack's programming skills need only walk into one of the towns "backwards" and then spin round to see the megatextures panic as they rush to cover their shame.
  • onyxbox #25 8 months ago

I dunno about this one... seems a bit dull.
  • Psihomodo #26 8 months ago

Yep, overall it is a pretty poor effort on PC, a quite bad port actually. Not by just how it looks but also how it plays - mediocre.

  • Lamb #28 8 months ago

Is that a post-apocalyptic version of Alfred E. Neuman?! :D
  • fisherpot #29 8 months ago

I have my 360 copy and I'm loving it as the game play is excellent! Great weapons as I expect from id with loads of ammo to choose from and the bad guys are cool, I really love the bandits how they move and jive all over the place!
I showed it to my mate who wants it on the pc but was gonna wait till they patch up the problems there having but now he played for a few hours last night on my xbox then it really swayed him to get it that night as he loved the gameplay!
id have not produced a game to change things but the have made one where its shit loads of fun to kill things!
