Is it just me or is the player not particularly good?

It's not as if I'm anti console fps'. Quite the opposite, but Q3 just screams 'need mouse and keyboard' at me.

definitely too quick to keep up with a joypad

Sure you can be more accurate with K/M but still a quite reasonable game with joypad, I ve played through first three maps and managed to beat the AI with zero death, so also perhaps if you are familar enough with FPS via joypad. Milllions does but when the orginial was around, only K/M was available and it ruled the world.

Still does ... but a skillled player with joypad can come close.

The real point really is that while Quake 3 always available for PC gamers (with K/M), but now finally more gamers, Console owning cousins can experience the DELIGHTS of Quake fragging!

Handy hint - Jump when you have the rocket launcher and aim for the ground where the other player is.

This is an absolute lag fest online at the moment. Even if it was smooth 1200 is a fucking rip off.

Plays fine on a pad. What people forget is that it's not like you're keeping up with anything except other players, who surprisingly are all using pads as well.

Pity that the ping on there seems as if it's >500ms atm. Unplayable online.

Still though, has the same classic gameplay.

This is THE example of why the PC is really where its at for online gaming, this demonstates the joypad is far far from ideal! rocket jump to a wall jump anyone? Iv'e watched the PC gaming market crumble and give way to console gaming for years now and it's a bit sad. I like consoles, don't get me wrong but paying for an online gaming service then using a very poor control method versus using the PC we all own anyway seems silly?!?!? and the cost isn't really an issue either as i bought a 9600GT for £30 off ebay the other day and it runs the call of duty games fine. I know this will get flamed but i felt it my duty :-) by the way i do own a Wii and an XBOX 360 aswell but use 'em mostly for single player gaming(with the exception of mariokart).

I just don't see the point of paying $15 for this when everybody can play the PC version for free in the browser.
