    So it's Tomb Raider and God of War thrown together into one game. Hmmmmmmm.

    The interface and the visual feedback is so fucking atrocious and in-your-face. The traps are identical to the ones from the main trilogy, as is the method of solving puzzles. Essentially, they're making another soulless copy of Sands of Time.

    @mungo: have you been under a rock the past 7 years - PoP, at least the Sands of Time series has been around for a bit now it's hardly 'new' or a mashup of two other titles, it's pure PoP and it's looking bloody good once again dispite the 'small blip' with PoP'09

    Mmm. Why would anyone build those cogs? So the whole point of that building is to house an elaborate system of giant cog based platforms? I know I'm missing the point, but it seems a bit laboured. Anyone else think Ubi just got lucky with SOT?

    @kremlik:

    Just like a bit of innovation in new titles, that's all.

    So the prince looks like a completely new guy, even the last one had his image intact. The graphics in general are very weird and don't seem to be part of the same universe as previous titles,and I don't think that is because of a few more polygons. This should have been much more fairytale esque which the last one, while not technically being a PoP game, did very well and was much more sands of time than warrior within. This looks overly similar to Warrior Within and the Two Thrones. The prince should have still been in his Prince outfit from SoT and be given this new gritty one along the way, but instead we get some new guy with a different face in some stupid metal outfit right of the bat. The combat looks very choppy, clumsy and from first glance very unresponsive and dull.
    I don't mean to sound like a hater but, what the fuck? This is not the return to form I was hoping for. Damn Ubisoft...

    @AnsemsApprentice:

    Keyword: Tie-in. Ubisoft couldn't care less about the Prince from Sands of Time or some minor ( or even major ) discrepancies here and there.
  • AnsemsApprentice #11 2 years ago

    @M4RV, I know but doesn't that make you sad? They said they have been working on it since 2004 I recall, and that is obviously a lie!
    All the press are saying it isn't a tie-in etc, they must think we are idiots. This has clearly been rushed.
    So they have ruined PoP and Splinter Cell now in my opinion, unless this drastically improves over the next few weeks... I am so disgusted lol

    hmmm, wish the run & jump sections were a little more realistic - he looks more like a giant fly than a man, the way he clings and sticks to things. I'd like to feel some sense of danger and effort when I'm leaping about great heights like that, it's harder to relate to someone that plays more like a Marvel superhero character.

    As for the combat, they should really take a long hard look at a game like Severance: Blade of Darkness for an example of decenent sword mechanics. Despite its age, that game seems a much better 3D representation of the original 2D POP battles - close, intense and an actual achievement when you win.

    Looks awfully boring. And why the ruinous American accent? They should at least had a Middle East style accent, though I would have gone balls out and by default made him speak in Parsi with subtitles- it would add greatly to the mood.

    The world of puzzles in games was reinvented by portal, this offers nothing new or exciting so I know which game I'm waiting for.
  • Drome #15 2 years ago

    Seems a bit meh... Although I didn't find Portal all that exciting either, more like a classic 2D-puzzler in 3 dimensions, and I woundn't want my PoP to play as one. This on the other hand looks like a poor man's Spider Man or something...
