    I didn't need more reasons to buy Wipeout but thanks for it anyways :p

    If Sony announce you will be able to stream Dark Souls from PS3 to the Vita i will buy one instantly.
  • Bradach #3 4 months ago

    @LPXO me too (i'm buying one any tbh). Something like skyrim anywhere in the house would be incredible

    I doubt live streaming will ever happen in any meaningful way - Sony will want you playing new software bought for the machine rather than piggy-backing off PS3 code. There's no money in it otherwise.

    This is the kind of thing thats really winning me over to the Vita (actually I'm already won over since the pre-orders down). The potential for this is brilliant, obviously were all waiting for full remote play to be sorted, but things like being able to cloud store saves for games that are playable on PS3/V and continue them at work or being able to take it to a mates and play multiplayer with a screen each rather than splitscreen would be awesome.

    I don't know, they could pull the rug right out from under Nintendo by emulating the Wii Us USP a year before it will likley appear in the market. Rather than stepping up 4 years too late after the novelty has worn off like motion controls.

    @MoGamer2006 why wouldn't they Sony will have an idea how the ps3 owner uses that ps3if your connected to psn me personal I buy the odd game for my ps3 as I use it as my media hub. Now if I could stream to my psvita(when I can get the credit card past the mrs and buy one) I would buy more ps3 games as well as vita games

    If they increase the catalogue of cross-play games then I might get this quicker than I was thinking.

    Nice ideas but how many of these will actually be supported properly...

    The PSP had remote play but only a handful of titles ever worked.

    The PSP could be used along with the PS3 to give different gameplay perspectives but this never happened aside from a few demos where the PSP was used as a rear-view mirror.

    The Vita has enormous potential and is a really impressive piece of kit but Sony need to really get behind some of these cooler features. For example, if remote play worked out of the box and supported all PS3 games then that would make it a day one purchase for me and I guess many others.

    As is stands I think I'll wait and see. With the PSP 7 years ago, Sony offered near console quality experiences in the palm of your hand but it never really took off (outside Japan that is). With Vita Sony are once again offering console-like experiences in the palm of your hand.

    So what's new?

    At least with the PSP it was an MP3 player and could be used for movies on the move in a time when most people didn't have other portable devices for this. With the rise of smart phones, iPods and Tablets I worry that the Vita will struggle in the same way as its predecessor.

    @Mr_interesting_2011 Technology is far more refined now, the apetite for this kind of thing is likely higher and I believe it's also built into the firmware (though I got a bit confused with this as I vaguely remember reading that it's been hacked in Japan to activate it - so why isn't it activated anyway?) as opposed to requiring developers to code it - which they didn't really do with the PSP.

    Don't know why I got negged for stating a perfectly valid business reason why this is very unlikely to happen. Ultimately a console exists to sell software - that's where the money's made.
  • BigDannyH #12 4 months ago

    @MoGamer2006
    I've got a feeling that, in a similar way to Kinect, the PSV could be a way of selling a new console without killing off the current one. Difference is that hardcore gamers will probably be more interested.

    I can't be the only person who's ready to fork out for more hardware but doesn't really see the need for a proper next gen console. I'm more than happy with the current gen games.

    Obviously they'll want to sell Vita software, and people will want it for when they're on the move with no wifi, but I would defo be purchasing multi-platform titles on the PS3 ahead of the Xbox going forward if they were transferable to the Vita. Would be the biggest distinguishing factor between the two.

    I can definitely see the next gen having a portable element, this might just be the first step in that direction.

    @MoGamer2006 its not a valid business reason and the reason why its not valid is because its negative and wont make no money what so ever ,where as fully realising this feature will generate extra sales and when your a company that as just announced 1.4 billion loss , the more money making products the better

    @Whitster

    Sounds wonderful, but there was an issue of PSN not letting 2 people on the same Internet IP connect and play simultaneously.

    I do hope they've fixed that crap :)

    @MoGamer2006

    It's fanboy city online man, and no-one wants to hear reality.

    I DO hope that this feature (remote play) appears in most games, and that it's not lag/artefact city.

    Realistically, it's not happening in many games due to memory and processing limitations.

    Crossplay looks AMAZING though, and if they know what's good for them, they'll include it in EVERY GAME from this point forward, and RIGOROUSLY encourage 3rd parties to support it in their games.

    For example, UMvC3, SFxT... are they crossplay enabled?

    Hope so, but...?

    @spacedelete well im not getting a vita unless this feature is properly refined. I cant be the only one.
  • Arwin #17 4 months ago

    Obviously the big difference between Remote Play on PSP and Vita are the controls. Most PS3 games use dual analog controls, and the PSP has but the one (and not a great one) analog nub. The Vita has two analog sticks and its rear and front touch can easily make up for the lack of pressable analog sticks and R2 L2 buttons, while even sixaxis features are easily matched by Vita.

    A hacked PS3 can stream any game to the PSP, as you can check on youtube. Sony already indicated that in principle all games can support remote play at PSPs resolution, which agrees with what hackers have shown. They also stated that streaming at a higher resolution would require a PS3 game to surrender some memory to support it though, so native resolution streaming will only be supported by certain titles.

    I think what this whole thing boils down to is; Sony want to push this feature but they do not want the 1st games people see running RP to be old games in psp res.
    I think they'll wait for a big Sony game (Starhawk or the last of us maybe) to show the feature off properly 1st time around. People will then see the feature in vita res in all its glory 1st. Also, by trialing the feature 1st party they can present their findings to other developers - things like remote play take up numbers logged via PSn (sorry sen) for the game.
    Then the old games - your Skyrims, your god of wars - will get the treatment.
