I for one would much prefer to simple click on a friends name then press invite over loading up some over he top virtual world, running around in order to find my friends, having a 5 minute conversation filled with small talk before finally getting around to starting a game with them...
but that's just me...

It does look sorta cool. Having friends come round to your apartment should be nerdy fun. ^^

Plus I'm sure they will fix the PSN to work more like Live. It's already pretty close.

Why would they? That's not where the money's at. MS has been smart to tie its customer base through achievements, gamerscore, etc. It's not that likely that gamers will jump ship just because Sony launches a similar service. If you want Live, buy a 360.

Comparisons to Second Life are a bit unfortunate though - despite the better graphics I doubt it'll have a fraction of the freedom to create. My worry is Home will just end up as a marketing space where brands can 'interface' with potential customers.

I'm curious as to how the whole acquiring stuff mechanic. Like, can I pick what my house is like? Can I swap it for another one if I want? Do I have to somehow buy furniture and outfits and so on? With real money, with some in-game "credits", or something else? If it's free, what's to stop me, say, filling my entire house with nothing but hundreds of thousands of potted plants? If, you know, I had a PS3 and found this a more than vaguely intriguing prospect.

Be interesting to see how many different mini games will be available.
Why complaints about it being used asan advertising space? At the end of the day these companies need to make money and as along as that doesn't start to impead games then were is the problem, just means they have more money to develop better games.

The interiors even look the same, albeit non-configurable in TDU.
I wonder what Atari make of this.

Nope - it won't be. Want a designer settee? That'll be 50p please. Want a larger apartment. That'll be £5 please etc etc etc.

You know that you don't have to buy these thing. I for one won't. And if my apartment looks like shit I don't as it is only virtual and it'll be unique.

1: get facts before you misguide people that are exited.
2: your an idiot
there is going to be a credit system much like gamerscore on xbox, basicaly you unlock stuff in games you unlock x amount of credits, simple but very effective because it gives you another reason to replay old games etc etc and to sandbox. so stfu in future before blabbing crap that you know nothing about.
