An MMO about pirates? I'll pass. Right now all of the kids are asking for pirate upgrades to existing MMORPG titles and look Final Fantasy gave it to them. And now another lot of people jumping on the band wagon, goody. Yes, the MMO market is the most profitable if its successful but allot of them sink to davy jones's locker (God awful pun intended).

Edit: Yes the transactions were a little overdone.

Mmm... Looking good, people. Never heard of it, here, either. Interesting.
Possibly one for the list.

best graphics of e3 2005? who the hell thought that? they were on drugs. Looks like playmobil pirates to me - terrible modelling and appaling plastic textures:

As far as a I know, this is the only MMORPG that's not fantasy or scifi based. For this alone it deserves to be a huge success.

So how does this work then? I assume the 'MMORPG' tag means it'll be a lot of clicky-clicky-dress-up-dolls, but if you actually have your own ship that you can upgrade and customise.... well, that sounds pretty cool.

The are alot of them comming out and does it really deserve to be big? Really? Pirates IS the new fad.. that means it doesn't imo.

Where is this abundance of pirate games you talk about? Last Pirates game I played was, well Pirates, the remake, a couple of years ago. Apart from that - hm. Tropico 2? And let's not forget that this game has been in development for ages.

And I couldn't care less if pirates are somehow en vogue at the moment, I just find the idea of a real-world MMOPRG where you have your own ship a lot more interesting than the 1000th game where you beat up orcs and cast fire spells.

There are hundreds of pirate games and I have not played one that was of any real standard. MMO's are trying to be more realistic in order to compete within the European market against WOW. I can only see this selling to a very young audience and/or people who think wearing a frock is "kewl" and certainly not to the eastern players (unless they REALLY are looking for something "new"). I could be wrong but..

I'll tell you what, Rogue Galaxy looks good...

Hehe, remarkable misjudgement of the game's target audience on your part.

Apart from that, I don't know what your point is anymore, I am afraid.

Skies of Arcadia is the best pirate game of all time.

Followed by the point n click version of Hook.

Oh, and the SNES version of Hook.

And all the Monkey Island games.

And Treasure Island Dizzy.

And Treasure Island on the Spectrum.

Man, that's a lot of good pirate games!

I'll grant you Skies of Arcadia (that was on DC yes?). Im hanging around as I would like to see how this game pans out. There are a few games on their way that have potential to do well I think, even if they are not my thing and MMO's always intrest me.

Edit: Any way, I seem to have become some sort of unwilling forum troll *stops posting in thread*.
