    That looks a bit better actually. Still miles away from fifa 09 though.

    Still no giant enemy crabs? No buy.
  • bef #3 2 years ago

    Weird. It looks like the ball is in a magnetic zone when controlled by players.... Almost as if it sticks to them...

    Graphically superb, the fluid animations and transformation to cutscenes is great, but the sound and atmosphere leave little to be desired, the reaction to the ball hitting the bar was non-existant and the reaction to the goals comes about 2 or 3 seconds after it's hit the back of the net, fans will be cheering when they think it's going in, so well before it's crossed the line. The commentary wasn't all too fluid either, at the start it was painfully obvious that it pauses, loads a clip of the team names and plays again.

    Need to play it for myself to really get any kind of appreciation for the gameplay though, and seeing as the last 4 or 5 games have been gash in that department it's going to have to take something big to get me back to being a PES fan.

    bef; you're fooling yourself if you think this isn't the case with every 3D football game ever. If you want non-sticky footballs, go play Kick Off 2 or SWOS.

    That looked absolutley crap. I'm no fifa fanboy but my god it is miles ahead.
    bef you're right the ball physics were shocking, espeicaly when they were playing lofted through balls. It seems to stick in the air untill the player is in the right position.

    And the defending is fucking shocking. Take another look at that ozil goal. If I was playing online and my opponent scored like that aginst me my pad would be straight out the window and in some unfortunate petrol pumpers face! (I live by a garage). The defenders just fall asleep and let him stand right infront of the goal.

    If PES release like that I guarentee it will be half price within a week.....like last year. Go back to doing what you can do Konami, mech fighters like lost planet.........oh wait they borked that too.

    So messi is overpowered. Arguably true to real life but a potential gamebreaker in gaming terms
  • BulletTheory05 #8 2 years ago

    Looks bloody awful. What was the keeper doing for that Portugal goal? Or what WASN'T he doing is a better question.

    Looks fantastic. The animation still needs a bit of work but as always the player models and lighting are a level above FIFA.
  • dabazbarhe #10 2 years ago

    Let's be fair.

    1. It looks great
    2. the cutscenes and celebrations are excellent.
    3. It does not look as fluid in the gameplay department as Fifa.
    4. All the teams will not be licenced
    5. Therefore Fifa is still ahead
  • FuzzyDuck #11 2 years ago

    Yeah they really need to fix the tethered look of the ball, i don't recall it ever looking like that way back when.

    I just want it to be good, i don't care if FIFA '11 is better.

    @TVoJ

    Yes, Konami made such a bad go at Lost Planet that they slapped "Capcom" on the box in error!

    @FuzzyDuck

    haha my bad bro, but you know what I'm gonna say.
    They all look the same to me. :D

    There are still lots of horrible moments: Ozil standing still for a few seconds before his celebration animation kicks in, The Argentinean goalkeeper running after the ball for Danny's goal rather than diving...early days I know but these things have been in for years.
  • captain_ginge #15 2 years ago

    @fuzzyduck
    Same ere just want it to be a cracking game of footy
  • Gromit #16 2 years ago

    To me FIFA is more polished, but I just like the "feel" of PES more. Plus with the trick stick and user-determined weighting to passes & shots, this year could be great.

    More crowd reaction needed though, definitely.

    I hope the camera angle is included that they use on the kick-off.
  • Tomo #17 2 years ago

    Hmm... not sure. Watching the video, the one thing I hate about the recent PES games is still present: the sodding ball-on-an-elastic-band control.

    Incidentally, I played PES6 again the other day and it was wonderful. Still. So much quicker than FIFA10. And that's not even as good as PES5.
  • curtlikesmeat #18 2 years ago

    Graphically it looks really impressive. Still some areas to be improved you can see without playing it though; Ozil's goal for example he heads it in with his back to the ball for most of the cross.

    It's good to see that FINALLY someone developing a football game has realised that it adds to the atmosphere if you use the same camera angles that live broadcasts use rather than these Michael Bay style cameras where you're constantly getting 360 rotations of players whilst they do their silly celebration.
  • curtlikesmeat #19 2 years ago

    Oh and further to atmosphere - when I heard the crowd roar over the commentators at the start of the match I thought it was going to capture some excellent atmosphere, but after that it wasn't so good. When the goals were scored the crowd went from flat murmer to massive cheer in a heartbeat. You need more excitement as the ball gets closer to the goal!
  • SteMacD #20 2 years ago

    Does look much improved but the players still look like they can only move in 8 directions, its really noticable when players change direction
  • I\'mListening #21 2 years ago

    Neither PES nor Fifa has got anywhere near to delivering us a great football game - they are both absolutely riddled with flaws. Could another developer please enter the fray and give us a decent kickabout? How many FPS, RPG, TPS, Racing franchises do we have to choose from? So, why, when it comes to football do we really only have two???
  • curtlikesmeat #22 2 years ago

    This a thousand times!! Lets see a Valve or Blizzard football game!

    Actually forget that, make it one of the decent UK developers, EA (Canada I think?) have proved time and again they don't know shit about the atmosphere of football. Rutter you obviously seem like a fan so I have no idea how much input you have.
  • SwashbucklingStuff #23 2 years ago

    @I\'mListening While it would be nice it'd be almost impossible for a developer to enter the soccer sim arena from scratch. Just the AI for the match alone would be absolutely savage, let alone licenses and all the animations you'd need. They would need years and years and years to get up to scratch and in that time the others would have continued to update annually.
