He has a point, though. I mean, going on the comments of others all over the net, it's totally messed up online anyway. Offline against bots is probably the best way for 360 owners to play it as well. Or you could just not buy it at all because it's not finished and fit for release. That's another option.
  • weejok #7 1 year ago

    ......or just buy a 360???
  • M_of_the_sys #8 1 year ago

That's right. Sell your PS3 and all your PS3 games for peanuts. Buy a 360 and buy your games back for three times as much just because you're too impatient to wait for PSN to come back up.

  • coolbritannia #15 1 year ago

Guess those mixed reviews are hurting them. Also, as the most hated Sony commentator on here, expecting people to buy a 360 to play online when PSN will be back by months end is a bit silly.

If it was Live that was down, I couldn't just walk away from the thousands of pounds investment I've made in my 360 and games collection over the last 5 years. The PS3 crowd just have to wait it out unfortunately, and I don't think they need crowing from us xbots over it, that shit ain't funny anymore.
  • Nebularhaze #16 1 year ago

Looks good, just doesn´t play that well. Feels clumsy and slow which seems strange given the trailers. Just a bunch of hype once again.
  • Kremlik Verified Co-Founder, Crash To Desktop #17 1 year ago

Bare in mind most of the reviews are using the 360 copy of the game - as we've seen before other formats may run the game better - hence why I'm holding out for more PC reviews as this screams 'TF2 without hats'

He sounds desperate enough, but fair play, this seamless on/off-line "experience" has been their mantra from the very first reveal of the game.
  • slickster #22 1 year ago

That dont worry me because ive seen videos on youtube people bitchin that online with the 360 is laggy as f**k it needs a patch or two. LOL

Coolbritannia making a positive post in a thread about the PS3/PSN, isn't that one of the harbingers of the apocalypse? :p

Splash Damage guy has a point too, from what I'm hearing the learning curve on this game is a little sketchy with all those guns, mods and abilities combined with the vertical combat gameplay and generally moving around the environments, a little offline time to master some of the more intricate parts of the game will have positive result later on. It's also nice to hear someone from the industry say "yeah it's annoying, but on the bright side..."

I also take from his little speech that the platinum trophy will still be available to those of us who don't manage to master or simply don't enjoy the online play, which is great news for trophy-whores like myself.

Online or offline, from what I've read about the game so far it sounds like it needs a few months of balancing and patches to make it work perfectly. Kinda like MAG back when it was released. So in other words; I'll wait for it to hit the bargain bin.

Still not convinced, that's more something PlaystationNotWork would say. :p
  • coolbritannia #32 1 year ago

@slickster, reports are all the bots are easy bots. and borderline retarded to boot. Goodfella's word on the street was 100% correct.
  • Goodfella #33 1 year ago

  • Murton #34 1 year ago

"reports are all the bots are easy bots. and borderline retarded to boot."

I've heard that too, apparently the difficulty settings merely alter damage values so that the bots both deliver more damage and take more damage before they go down rather than actually effecting the AI behaviour, which is something of a disappointment to me as I quite enjoy fighting against a competent AI.
  • HyperTails #35 1 year ago

I'm sure Brink will be a great game (hell, its metacritic score is dragged down by Joystiq and 1UP, and Joystiq lost all credibility with that Nier fishing blunder, and 1UP were always crap anyway) and its great that people can still play it offline.

Part of me wants to get it, but another part of me says that with the FPS games i've bought recently, and White Knight Chronicles 2 out in a few weeks, i'd be better to wait awhile. Decisions, decisions...
  • Sodding_Gamer #36 1 year ago

From what I've heard there is a patch in the works, and the problems with this game can be fixed with patches. So here's hoping this unique little FPS will be better soon! And maybe some free maps? As 8 maps is pretty shocking for a MP focused team shooter.
  • mcreddie #37 1 year ago

As an owner of both Xbox and PS3 consoles I feel it's my responsibility to shed a tear for those that just own sony's machine.

    Good thing i'm irresponsible.

NENENENENENNENEENENENNENENENNENENENE WE CAN PLAY ONLIIIINE AND YOU CANT! HA HA!
  • Murton #38 1 year ago

"As 8 maps is pretty shocking for a MP focused team shooter"

Depends on the size of the maps. MAG doesn't have more than about a dozen maps and that was well received, but then it's smallest match 32 vs 32 and not 8 vs 8 so it's maps are obviously huge by comparison. Brink is pretty much going to live or die based on its unique features, and last week I thought it was going to be a massive hit, then the review embargo lifted and I got a little doubt.

Also don't forget it's published by Bethesda, so DLC will come in thick and fast shortly after release, I expect we'll see the pre-order bonuses being sold off within the first 6-8 weeks and the first map pack arriving in the third month after release, that's the you sell a shooter these days unfortunately.

  • kirankara #40 1 year ago

Coolbritania never been that bad, there's some proper twunts on here, that make me want to ..... Counts to ten.
I don't mind the odd bit of banter and ribbing , and even found some of it all quite funny tbh, especially when ps3 fanboys start going apeshit and crying bout it all , but it's losing it's originality now, it's like someone telling u the same joke ten times with slightly different wording, it's just not funny anymore, as it's been done to death.

Anyway, still getting this game, maybe they sort out netcode by time psn goes up( bout the time we perfect time travel at this rate) , as I somehow believe in this game.

Oh dear lord what a nob jockey
  • Sodding_Gamer #42 1 year ago

    @Murton

I suppose you're right mate. It looked brilliant and I was going to get it day one for 360 but after the mixed reviews I'm just not that sure anymore! Hopefully if there is as sequel they can improve. There will always be problems when your bring a new IP out on the table.
  • DefendoCroc #43 1 year ago

Given that its just plain b0rked on XBLA with the lag making it unplayable i dont think you PS3 guys are loosing out tbh, at least theres a 'chance' it might actually work when Sony get there shit together. Right now, and it gutts me to say it, its a definate rent before you buy though :(
  • PlaystationNotWork #44 1 year ago

Coolbrittania has been talking sense for days. It's just some people round here can't hear a bad word against Sony. I haven't seen him say anything untoward against Playstation owners, just the company.
  • Murton #45 1 year ago

    @sodding gamer

I think the launch day patch is probably going to fix a lot of the things that reviewers were down marking for and once the game hits retail and player reviews start appearing we'll get a better picture of what the game is like.

I've decided to keep my pre-order and make a go of it, the reviews have placed doubts in my mind for sure, but after watching the dev diary vids and training footage and all that other stuff again my confidence is renewed. Brink will live or die by its unique features as I said before, but I'm confident in those features, and besides, as long as the bots can offer a decent amount of resistance to provide a challenge and I have some good friends for co-op I'll get my 40 quids worth. I've bought other games day 1 with much less confidence so it's only right that I give the mixed reception to Brink the benefit of the doubt and see what it's all about.
  • coolbritannia #46 1 year ago

"I guess he's earned himself a warn at last if he's resorted to posting things like this, about time."

Wrong I'm afraid. If anything, the abuse in the threads is towards me, not from me. My abuse was withheld for the company, not their fans.
  • DefendoCroc #47 1 year ago

    @Murton

No the release day patch does not fix it, the user comments on meta are based on people in the USA playing the game and therefore *have* the launch day patch ... and as you can see it didnt work :(
  • kirankara #48 1 year ago

@deferndo,ermmm .... incorrect. The yanks didnt get release day patch until monday, but its still kinda borked anyway apparently
  • coolbritannia #49 1 year ago

They didn't get it until the day before release day? Or this coming monday?
  • ucankurbaga #50 1 year ago

lay off the pipe will you.
  • Murton #51 1 year ago

"They didn't get it until the day before release day? Or this coming monday?"

Just checked and the American patch went live on "day zero" which was the day before. Should be noted however that the patch doesn't seem to affect the graphical bugs and does nothing to correct the lag which is being blamed on bad netcode. Until the PSN is back up to provide something to compare it to though it's hard to say what is causing the lag.
  • kirankara #52 1 year ago

Sorry my bad, I am not sure what planet I Was on when I wrote this, but this is from the brink forum on here referencing an interview on Justin tv with one of devs.

Taken from EG forum brink thread:

    “MattyB2007
    10 May ’11 20:49:47
Am just watching the Machinima live stream for Brink and they’ve been interviewing one of the SD guys.

One interesting thing he said was that a lot of the Euro reviews have been generally higher than the American one’s and this might be down the fact that they only got the patch today rather than Saturday like Europe”
  • Robm612 #53 1 year ago

Shame the bots are fucking retarded....if you want to get this on ps3....wait a while, this will drop in price pretty quick and every review agrees that if your not playing online you shouldnt play it at all
  • thedriffter50 #54 1 year ago

This had mediocre written all over it. I was almost fooled by the trailers it might actually be a decent FPS but to think they have been making this game for 2 years now.
  • riseer #55 1 year ago

Would rather quit gaming then to get a 360. W_the_the_sys you speak volumes ,the simple fact is their are really great games comming out this year for Ps3.360 has nothing but gears and forza and maybe a new halo game.If people are willing to trade their Ps3 in for a system, with hardly no first party support and kinect is their focus atm.If you want hardcore games you go with Ps3 now.Idc if psn is down another month i have a life beyond gaming. It does suck not being able to go to the psn store but maybe this is what Psn needed to become a better online service.Just fix the issues Sony that is all i ask..
  • kirankara #56 1 year ago

Or u could own both riseer??
    Chill out u crack head.
  • coolbritannia #57 1 year ago

The fact that anyone voted up Riseer is depressing.
