Feels like a reused musical score from somwhere else.. too bad.

I'm watching at work, so no sound, but the music playing in my head was the theme to Requiem for a dream! Epicness. But it does look rather like an average space marine fare.

aahh the old negged for making an observation thing, SC community you're making me so proud.

to not be one of you.

    Best. Trailer. Ever.

    It gave me the tingles.

Is it worth booting up the original and completing the campaign? never even finished the Terran...haha
  • CaptainTrips #6 2 years ago

Nah, it's not Duran, it's Gabriel Tosh - a new mercenary-type character for the game.

Gotta love Kerrigan as a smoking hot redhead though...
  • CaptainKid #7 2 years ago

Music doesn't fit the images at all..
  • TeaFiend #8 2 years ago

Damn, I was hopeful of Mr SneakSneak.

"Is it worth booting up the original and completing the campaign? never even finished the Terran...haha"

You'd do well to finish both SC and Brood War in five days, but in summary:

Jim Raynor originally joined forces with Arcturus Mengsk to overthrow the Terran government, only for him to betray Jim and leave Kerrigan (Who was a Ghost, like a Special Ops soldier) for dead to form the Dominion and declare himself emperor of the Koprolu Sector. The Zerg didn't kill Kerrigan, but instead chose to assimilate her into the Zerg collective due to her strong psychic powers.

The Protoss, who were a fanatical advanced alien race dedicated to defeating the Zerg, joined forces with Raynor to wipe the Zerg out, with their leader, Tassadar, eventually sacrificing himself to Kamikaze their mothership into the Zerg overmind (which controlled the Zerg as a collective). With the Overmind dead, Kerrigan was free to take over control of The Zerg as the Queen of Blades.

That's pretty much the jist for the original game. Brood War has a pretty good story too, but I'd say that would be enough for you to enjoy the new campaign. :)

Isn't it funny how they ret-conned Kerrigan into a, y'know, good-looking woman (before the extreme Zerg makeover). Other than that, this sure brings back old memories of a surprisingly good singleplayer campaign which somehow got buried over the years in some weird Korean game show. Bring on the epic sci-fi drama, Blizzard, and please turn down that testosterone-laden Battle.net cacophony...
  • space_ace #11 2 years ago

you mentioned "starcraft ghost" in the subtitle, why? :)
  • mintycabbage #12 2 years ago

It is a bit ironic that I had to watch a SC2 advert to see the SC2 trailer.
  • BritishBlue1 #13 2 years ago

Damn you beat me to it, Cabbage. :p

Well, you know, I didn't neg you, but it's a peculiar comment to make. Bit like pointing out that the new Batman game features a superhero that looks a bit like a bat. :p
  • the_mtfr #15 2 years ago

A large portion of this trailer is done with low poly characters, possibly captured from in-game.

Red headed Kerrigan's face looks awfully bad compared to the face they modelled for the blonde in Starcraft Ghost cinematics, what gives...
  • shamblemonkee #16 2 years ago

praise the gaming gods, blizz know how to do some kickass cutscenes. fapfapfap.
  • wyp100 #17 2 years ago

Does Blizzard keep its cgi movies in-house, or does it outsource?
  • robg #18 2 years ago

How many people are going to watch that trailer and buy it, expecting a Gears of War-esque game?
  • piopakk #19 2 years ago

Okay, so nobody can say anything negative or slighty negative about starcraft 2, without getting bad karma clicks from you guys. Be more objective you clickers out there.. ;)

"Well, you know, I didn't neg you, but it's a peculiar comment to make. Bit like pointing out that the new Batman game features a superhero that looks a bit like a bat. :p "

Not really. I havent played the game yet (as its not out) so i have nothing to go on but this trailer and a few screenshots. And from the looks of these (Oversized blokes in space armour, girls in less armour, spaceships n aliens) it DOES look like it could be any other sci-fi space marine stuff. Its just an observation, saying it looks like a lot of other scifi out there, not that it PLAYS like a lot of other sci-fi stuff. I'm sure it will be as polished as SC1 and the Warcraft RTS games were, I'm just commenting on the overall setting of the game not being that inspirational to me personally. Just my opinion.
  • Canyarion #21 2 years ago

Oh MY! That is so awesome. I've always liked the single player better than the multiplayer.

@wyp100 (Does Blizzard keep its cgi movies in-house, or does it outsource?)
Afaik, they always outsource it at the same company.

Kerrigan looks absolutely fine to me, not sure how you manage to even county polys there - but yeah, SC2 will have a lot more cutscenes than SC1 because they're also using the game engine, not just pre-rendered stuff, and the trailer is a mixture of both.
  • Dizzy #23 2 years ago

    Good trailer. Well done Blizzard.
  • Softie2k #24 2 years ago

I bet we saw 70% of all the cut scenes right there...
  • the_mtfr #25 2 years ago

@UncleLou, there's a notable difference between in-game cutscenes and prerendered cinematics, and both of them make up this trailer, look again. As for Kerrigan, compare her face to this:

    [link url=http://www.gearfuse.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/vidaextrastarcraftghost3.jpg
    ]http://www.gearfuse.com/wp-content/uploa...[/link]

Red headed Kerrigan's face in this trailer looks put together in a 3D modelling app in a few hours, while the blonde's face is perfectly modelled in a realistic fashion. No need to defend Blizzard so hard, man, just look at the images.
  • Triggerhappytel #26 2 years ago

Very cool trailer. As mentioned, it does however suggest the game is an action-packed sci-fi opera, rather than an RTS.
  • UncleLou #27 2 years ago

Er, yeah. You know, that's exactly what I just said.

I just don't see it, and certainly not from that snippet you posted there.

No need to defend Blizzard so hard, man, just look at the images.

    O...K.... O_O
  • the_mtfr #28 2 years ago

@UncleLou, 'cause you said "not sure how you manage to even county polys there", that doesn't qualify as coming to an agreement, smart ass.
  • Felarion #29 2 years ago

If that's supposed to make me want to rush out and buy their game, it's failing at its job. It looks like generic sci-fi action movie/game trailer #2473.

I'm sure it's a lot better if you know what's going on, but I did think the point of a trailer was to advertise something to new people as well as your returning customers, who, in Blizzard's case, hardly need a trailer.

I'm sure the game will be very good, get high ratings and sell exceptionally well anyway but, for me, the trailer is sub-par.
  • UncleLou #30 2 years ago

@UncleLou, 'cause you said "not sure how you manage to even county polys there", that doesn't qualify as coming to an agreement, smart ass.

Christ, learn to read. You obviously compared the pre-rendered Kerrigan to the pre-rendered blonde of Starcraft: Ghost (and you used the term "cinematics" several times to refer to pre-rendered stuff), as anything else would be retarded. So when I said "not sure how you manage to count polys there", I obviously referred to the bits in the trailer that are obviously pre-rendered. So instead of calling me a fanboy just because we have a disagreement over the quality of the face and throwing childish insults around, why not explain your point of view.

Then I explained that the trailer consists of pre-rendered scenes and scenes made with the in-game engine, look: "but yeah, SC2 will have a lot more cutscenes than SC1 because they're also using the game engine, not just pre-rendered stuff, and the trailer is a mixture of both."

To which you replied: "@UncleLou, there's a notable difference between in-game cutscenes and prerendered cinematics, and both of them make up this trailer, look again."

Of bloody course there's a difference between in-game cutscenes and prerendered cinematics.

@UncleLou, not because it's retarded to have in-game cutscenes, but because I was disappointed as I was expecting only pre-rendered ones of Blizzard's renowned quality under the name "trailer".

There's nothing more to explain my point of view aside from what I already said about the obvious difference in quality of the face modelling, which disappoints me a bit more.

Anyway, I'm glad you're not a blind fanboy.
