Can't say I was all that interested in this, but it might be worth it just for the death animations!
  • Snufkin #3 12 months ago

    Sure looks purty.
I really hope there is some shooting outside of the dour sewers and underground bunkers shown so far though. After playing Fallout 3 I've had my fill of fighting through identikit lairs, I want some sunshine dammit!

Damn that looks smooth. And detailed. And smooth.

  • YoungPayters #8 12 months ago

visuals are great and that but the subtle head movement looks class and gives it some natural movement about it which looks very cool.
  • DefendoCroc #9 12 months ago

The scenery sure looks nice, but the gameplay looks sooooo boring, wheres the innovation !! where ?? where ?

@Snufkin: Wasn't one of the gamplay vids already seen set in a shanty town with mutants leaping over shacks...? Out door driving sections as well will break up the flow.

I must say that I think that gameplay vid was jaw-droppingly good. It's easy to make a game look cool with quick-cut editing on a vid, but that was pure gameplay clips. The weapons look weighty, fun, and varied. The knife throwing, sticking blades in the mutant's skulls looked tremendously satisfying.

This is looking more and more like a day 1 to me :0)

What was this gameplay recorded on? PC? 360? PS3? Graphics look awesome but if it's PC then that's a given.
  • Monkey_Puncher #13 12 months ago

Weren't they Doom sound effects when he picked up the ammo or whatever it was?
  • Renal1ty. #14 12 months ago

Yeh mate, It's PC footage. Looks class. Can't wait!
  • Goodfella #15 12 months ago

I wasn't keen on this at first but the more I see the more I like it.

Also, that's not the PC version, you can tell by the movement it's using twin sticks. Unless they're using a gamepad on a PC.
  • beatwolf #16 12 months ago

    goddamn mofo that looks awesome!!!!!!!
  • bodhi85uk #17 12 months ago

    @Monkey Puncher

I heard a Quake sound when he picked up the "Quayola"

It's same footage I've seen elsewhere , and in parts of footage there are requests to press E etc, so definitely pc footage . I wasn't sure ( although I had suspicions ) , until someone else pointed this out to me.

I was thinking this looked a bit dull until I saw the Mind Control bolts.

I'm just worried it's going to be a bit... generic.
  • DRUNK3N-_-DRAGON #23 12 months ago

    haven't i seen this?
  • curtlikesmeat #24 12 months ago

I know it doesn't look innovative and I got bored of FPS games years ago, but sometimes, just sometimes, I like to skip out quest trees and forking dialogue with morality issues, walk down into a dungeon and do my talking with a massive gun (to the face!). Looks great.
  • thesonglessbird #25 12 months ago

The animations of the NPC's look a bit crappy. Remind me of the animations in Fallout 3. On the other hand, the animations for the enemies look decent. So whatever. The combat looks pretty good. There's some pretty rad weapons in there.

Still finding it to be excited about this though. Maybe nearer release date I'll be a bit more interested....
  • L0cky #26 12 months ago

Going from DNF to watching this makes me feel a little silly for not ever appreciating it more.

Even if it is does turn out to be just a run of the mill iD shooter with some driving bits, the production quality and atmosphere is still outstanding.

And special credits to the audio; something I usually overlook.
  • TRUTH #27 12 months ago

There is apparently rpg and crafting system in Rage, and it does go outside in wider areas - it's a bit more then a normal fps.
  • MMMMMM7 #28 12 months ago

This time Id Software has got the right package:

Great graphics, open environments with quests and
characters to interact and finally what is the core of the FPS genre
very good combat. The combat keeps the tension on you and
the enemy opponets A.I seems to be significacntly improved since
the time when a similar trailer was shown last year.

So far it's shaping up to be the best next generation FPS game I
have seen so far. Bravo Id software keep your spirit high and continue
the excellent work, especially in the A.I area which defines the quality
of the gameplay more than anything else.

Looks very promising. An action/adventure game with the smoothness of control of a FPS
  • lemonfist #30 12 months ago

Oh my, did you hear the sound effects when he picks up stuff @ 06:54?
  • Daeltaja #31 12 months ago

I do hope this turns out great - certainly looks the part anyway. Some of the voice-overs don't suit the characters whatsoever and the lip-syncing is a fair bit off. These things can be ironed out though and the enemy animations are top notch. Looks a bit corridor shooter if you ask me, but we haven't seen that much so can't make a judgement just yet.

One things for sure, I'll be getting this on PC!
  • mr_pink #32 12 months ago

Very slick and graphically impressive, but somehow not that exciting. It seems to have taken a well-worn formula and polished it up to a shine, but ultimately it's already been played out.
  • Butr0sButr0s #33 12 months ago

Mr. Pink - I agree, I love the animations and voice acting, but the AI still follows the same routines we've had from 10 years ago. Its like putting a new coat of paint on a car, it looks a lot prettier but drives the same.
  • Nephirion #34 12 months ago

I agree with previous posters looks good but i don't see any innovation.
