    I was nothing short of devastated playing the demo a few weeks back. Okami was easily 1 of my favorite games of last gen yet this sequel falls short in controls for what should have been a match made in heaven on the DS. Using the d-pad feels clunky and awkward after the smooth controls lent in Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. May pick it up sometime down the line if I see it half price...

    Looks lovely but I hope Higgins's comment doesn't ring true. I had worried about the d-pad. Now, if this was a 3DS launch title there would be no doubt about me picking one up launch day.

    @Ninja_Tino.
    Don't get me wrong, the d-pad control method isn't a game breaker, just would have been nice had touch screen controls been used for adventuring as well as combat/puzzles. I do like you agree that this is 1 of those instances a delay could have turned this game from good into great, 3D coupled with greater resolution and the fine tuning I have been talking about.

    I'll be playing this on a 3DS and using the rather fabulous thumb-pad (I think that's what we're calling it). Apart from that, I don't see this being commercially successful because yet again, someone has decided to release this at the wrong time with an almost non-existent advertising campaign. They clearly haven't learned their lessons from Okami.
    A shame, considering this looks amazing. Never finished Okami on Wii though, so this'll have to wait.

    That was my plan too, Raz, but I've heard that original DS games look quite bad on the 3DS, which is utterly ridiculous. I know they want to move forward, but that should've been a huge priority.

    Firstly, I was pretty impressed that I could download a demo from the Wii to my DS for this. I know this has been around for ages but I had no idea. Shame that the range of demos is pretty limited. Okamiden didn't immediately control well on the D-Pad it's true. Diagonal movement is pretty clunky.

    Secondly, I'm sort of relieved that DS games don't look so hot on the 3DS, in that at least Nintendo upgraded the rez of the 3DS screens. There just isn't a way to make it look as good as the native DS resolution I'd imagine.

    Ridiculous that this isn't a 3DS launch title.

    If you press START and SELECT as you load up a DS game you can play it in the native resolution with borders. It's quite small on the screen, though, almost like you were playing it on a DS Micro - however, it does mean that it looks pretty sharp.

    The way the character pops out of the screen, you'd think this was a 3DS game, and what a shame it isn't. I think the real pity is that this had the opportunity to be the must have title at 3DS launch, rather than being one of the swansong titles of an ageing format...didn't Capcom learn anything from the first Okami?
