That looks awesome, the physics are crazy. :D
  • Perry #2 6 years ago

    Hmmmm. This looks amazing.

Anyone know if this is a launch title? Might sway me somewhat
  • foamy #3 6 years ago

  • brokenkey #6 6 years ago

Crikey, why aren't they wearing seatbelts?
  • Chtulie #7 6 years ago

Sooo....flatout with more vehicle classes but less diffirent enviroments and pretty much the same visuals?
  • penhalion #8 6 years ago

Not that impressive and what was with all the camera angle crap. You certainly couldn't race with the camera doing that all the time. More than likely a race replay like in burnout revenge

Ladies and gentlemen, the least intelligent, most redundant post you will ever read.
  • glaeken #10 6 years ago

It reminded me a lot of Flatout. In visuals it is very close to the PC version of Flatout. Still that was a pretty good game.
  • Darkedge #11 6 years ago

if thats in game now - they have done a great job of improving the last playable code., which looked okay but nothing special.
  • Teeth #12 6 years ago

Well, they have added a lot of effects. The gameplay looks the same. I also don't think much of the dust particle effects, even though they do a good job of creating the required atmosphere and look good from a driver's perspective. It could be fun to play because of its atmosphere alone but I was expecting better track deformation.
  • glaeken #13 6 years ago

Track deformation will be one of those things we look back on as a developer grasping at straws to give their game a "next gen" feature.

I say this because I honestly don't see it adding anything to the game play and if anything it could detract from the game play.

My reasoning behind that is to me a lot of the fun of a racing game is learning a track and getting the perfect line plus shaving time of that best lap time. Track deformation if over done could break this learning process as there will no be learning the track and that perfect line. The inverse of that is if under done it won't make any difference and will just become unneeded fluff.

Still it does appear to have become a bit of a buzz feature as a couple of over racing games have listed it now as something they will be including. I think the next version of Collin Macrea was one of them.

I wonder how good the 'track deformation' gameplay will hold up sans the force feedback functionality.....

The visuals look nice, though... by a longshot not nearly as good as that CG movie.
  • bauhaus #15 6 years ago

    Looks pretty good to me.

Is this still in production? Could it get better?

Hey the track deformation could add to the "track learning" exeriance, for example deliberatly monging up the perfect line to a corner, knowing (hoping) other drivers would opt for that line.. etc

Bit like dropping bannana skins :D

    /hopes that makes sense

Visuals are pretty impressive, but this isn't really the kind of game I'd play anyway. I don't see the appeal in racing games tbh. I just about enjoyed Outrun 2006, but that's about it.

  • stoopidgreg #17 6 years ago

why do they keep showing the same track as the 2006 E3 demo, and the same as teh 2005 pre-rendered video? or even worse, what if this is a different track?! and they all look the same!

anyway, when you see this game in action actually being played, it looks about 2% as impressive as that video makes it seem. the cars all move really slow, seem to reach maximum speed after about 3 seconds, there isn't nearly as much action as that video would have you believe, and the deformable terrain adds jack shit to the gameplay (if you even notice it)
  • SIDEARM #18 6 years ago

Honestly doesnt look much more than a high res flatout. lots of stuff happening but the individual vehicle models look very much current gen.
  • drumbaby #19 6 years ago

Not my cup o'cha game-wise, but visually that looks pretty stunning.
  • Shadar #20 6 years ago

Wow! That's just like the pre-rendered footage from last year. I never thought they'd be able to recreate the visual impact of that video in-game, and now they've gone and proven me ...

    ... oh.

Looks perfectly average. I'd have taken it for a current-gen-racer if not for the FSAA and the lighting. About as interesting as a lecture on geological sediments.

<a href=http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?d ocid=-1262966686034781234&q=motorstorm>this video</a> shows you just how slow and boring it is and how all the track deformation is is brown lines on the track. snore!
  • SIDEARM #22 6 years ago

Cheers for the link stoopidgreg, that video makes it look about as exciting as a dose of the clap.
  • Bates #23 6 years ago

Yeah, nice one stoopidgreg, linking to a video of an older version of the game and comparing it to an up to date one.

Honestly, the amount of denial around here these days is pretty sad.
  • Shadar #24 6 years ago

Denial regarding what? The obvious superiority of the PS3 compared to the x360, or just the general redundancy of the so-called next generation?

Yep. The E3 demo is an older version. So what? It still looks as exciting as counting sheep in Wales. Should we just forgive any apparent flaws in an unfinished game due to it being unfinished? If the game is in a state where it's not representative of the final product, and we have to cut it slack because of that, it shouldn't be shown at all. I they don't want me to form opinions about their product based on what inferior code they display at E3, they should damn well make sure they're showing pure excellence! Like they did at E3 last year. Boy, was that too good to be true.

    @shadar

why do you have to show people the worst e32005 trailer?
Why didnt you show them this trailer from e32005 ?

And dont be dumb motorstorm is still in development so they can improve this game besides wait untill the finished game before you bash k

You remember doa for xbox360 how crappy it looked back in e32005 and since then improved untill launch ?

  • stoopidgreg #26 6 years ago

older version of the game? that video is from E3 this year... i doubt it's changed drastically.
  • Shadar #27 6 years ago

Yeah, that's the future of the racing genre right there, presented in glorious ShakyCam™!

It still doesn't look like much, to be perfectly honest. And the visual polish of Dead or Alive 4 only proves one thing: Team Ninja doesn't know where to pour their vast resources. How about tuning those game mechanics, people?

But sure. If you think MotorStorm looks good, then excellent! You'll probably be pleased with your purchase come November. Hell, maybe even I'll be convinced. There's every possibility. I just don't think they've proven themselves worthy of that kind of faith yet.

    Not after this video.

I think it has to be said that there is indeed a big difference between some of those clips and according to which you see there'll be a very different opinion.

EG's one is obviously race reply with a tiny fraction of "real" view in it, there's an older one which makes it look toss and a newer couple which seem pretty good.

However, as has been rightly mentioned too, all of these pale massively against the original footage touted to be PS3 when the launch first kicked off. By setting the bar so stupidly (and falsely) high everything now will look like they're under achieving when some of the stuff will be good in it's own right.

Personally, I'm reserving all final judgement until it's finished and will then praise or slag it accordingly.
  • Der_tolle_Emil #29 6 years ago

I thought it looked good. Especially the physics. But that's about it, it does look a bit slow.

By the way, why does the big truck crash at the very same spot in every motorstorm video I've seen?
  • Grom #30 6 years ago

    cool, looks much better :)
  • pac666 #31 6 years ago

Could this be the game that makes me want to buy a PS3? maybe, but I am still hoping for a new Wipeout, that would prbably have me running down to the shops with cash in hand.
