It's the classic space-faring sun-lounger analogy. You get to the moon nice and early to start building your base, only to discover that some bugger's gone and got there first. There's a big old alien hatch right where you were hoping to build the conservatory and now you've got to explore it without getting your face ground off by the vicious robot beasties within. Typical.
