"Hello, Peter Molyneux speaking. Sorry? You're from Eurogamer? No, sorry, I can't talk about that whole Milo thing. No, sorry. Not allowed to comment and all that. But while you're on the phone..."
  • EugenesLair #2 2 years ago

    Hey! It's Milo!
  • MuchoPies #3 2 years ago

Wish I was there to slap Peter Molyneux face too. Game on to his son!
  • DavoTheDiv_2010 #4 2 years ago

Message back from Valve : "Fuck off ginger"
  • darkmorgado #5 2 years ago

"I think I can wait a couple more years and stuff"

Well I should hope so, seeing as how you're nowhere near old enough to be legally playing Half-Life.

Bit of an oops moment there from Peter, effectively promoting underage kids playing violent games.

I'll take my Daily Mail hat off now.
  • Tuffty #6 2 years ago

Bless. Ain't he a bit young to play Half Life though? If I played through Ravenholm at that age I'd be traumatised for life!

"How am I supposed to talk, or something?"

Jesus, you're the son of PETER MOLYNEUX and you don't know how to talk? JUST DO WHAT YOUR DAD DOES ALL THE BLOODY TIME!
  • richarddavies #9 2 years ago

That boy is not old enough to be playing half life. IM DISGUSTED!!! BAN ALL MOLYNEUX GAMES. AGGGGHHHHH
  • Ryboy #10 2 years ago

  • Snaggletooth #12 2 years ago

  • mad_caddy #13 2 years ago

15+ age rating on half life 2. well done. FFS.
  • ZizouFC #14 2 years ago

  • Goodfella #15 2 years ago

If I see that Reach advert once more I will not be held responsible for my actions!
  • darkmorgado #16 2 years ago

If I ever hear Peter Molyneux ever again, ever saying "parents need to take responsibility to ensure their kids aren't playing games not suitable for their age" then I am going to personally go down to Lionhead HQ and slap him.
  • Der_tolle_Emil #17 2 years ago

Is his son now replacing the cancelled Milo to give Peter all the attention he needs?
  • Machetazo #18 2 years ago

Molyneux, and his progressively desperate ways to keep people's attention. :p We know it'll be vapourware, Pete or else, disperse until it's little more than, so, please step away from the microphone - and give the camera back, too while you're at it, as it's needed for a HL3 exclusive.
  • makeamazing #19 2 years ago

What i dont understand is why a MS bigwig would make a video promoting Valve and HL3... very strange concept to me.
  • Monkey_Puncher #20 2 years ago

    Slow news day?

    It's cute and all.

    When twitter posts becomes news....
  • whoyouknow #21 2 years ago

That kid is going to be a real pussy-magnet when his secondary school friends inevitably stick his Googlewhack of a name into YouTube out of curiosity.
  • edhe #22 2 years ago

So.. are ratings more important than a parent's choice? It's not like PM doesn't know what are in the games.

Half Life isn't a particularly gory or harrowing experience, nor sexualised. It's fairly cartoonish really. Can't really think what makes it a 15 above the "woo guns" and some blood.
  • Shinetop #23 2 years ago

I think this is neat. Shame people have to start bitching about everything whenever they see the name Molyneux.
  • TheBoyChris #24 2 years ago

    @Shinetop - I agree. Have some common sense people - Half Life 2 isn't exactly a sexy-gore-fest. :)
  • BigJonno #25 2 years ago

I think people need to take off their cynical hats and realise that it's a video of PM the dad and not PM the studio boss/game designer/whatever it is he does for MS that I can't remember right now.

Also, it's perfectly legal for his son to play any game, it's just not legal for him to buy them. As shooters go, HL2 is only just above Saturday morning cartoon levels of violence and if your kid isn't the sort to be scared by the Ravenholm section, there's very little that I'd say is unsuitable for any child who had a firm grasp of the distinction between fantasy violence and reality.

    Lying about games?
  • Sam81 #27 2 years ago

HEY EUROGAMER I don't mind you hosting any Lionhead or Fable videos that are officially released but this is MY video - at least a link to my Youtube channel would be respectful you know. Fanks.
  • Sir_TimAlot #28 2 years ago

    Prepare for unforeseen consequences.
  • darkmorgado #29 2 years ago

What i dont understand is why a MS bigwig would make a video promoting Valve and HL3... very strange concept to me.

In fairness, I see this as "Peter the massive fan of games" speaking, not "Peter the huge executive for MGS"
  • Lukus #30 2 years ago

  • waynenot #31 2 years ago

I'd rather play games that I shouldn't at my age than the shit my dad churns out.
  • epiazk #32 2 years ago

Molyneux is credited with Dungeon Keeper, Magic Carpet, Syndicate, Populous, Black and White along with fable, among others. Why would anyone doubt his love for the industry? You'd think he was the fucking video game equivalent of Bono . Also, hating on a guys kid is beyond stupid.
  • FogHeart #33 2 years ago

Maybe by the time the game is released the point about whether he's old enough to play it will be moot.

    @SirTimalot : genius post!

Cute and all, but kind of flippant if you've just let 12 or so contractors go...
  • lambão #35 2 years ago

Jesus fucking Christ in a unicycle, you guys are so dense... oh lawd.
When i was 7 I was playing Doom and Duke Nukem which is far more gorey than Half Life is.

I really dont see a problem with this. Are you saying you never played violent games when you were younger? Stop being so hypocrite and stop making stupid judgments over Sir Pete

  • speedjack #36 2 years ago

IMHO Molyneux is a nation treasure.

This clip just made me like him more.
  • spiny #37 2 years ago

If he keeps begging, he may be old enough to play it by the time it's actually out!
  • Shinetop #38 2 years ago

@epiazk: Some people simply aren't old enough to have experienced those classics, and are too narrowminded to look into anything that doesn't use the latest in shader technology. You can't blame them for being idiots.
  • mashk #39 2 years ago

Oh noes Peter Molyneux, you dun goofed! Inadvertently admitting your son plays violent video games. Beware of the cyber police, the consequences will never be the same again.
  • darkmorgado #40 2 years ago

    @lambão

Yes, I did play violent games when I was kid. However, there was nothing anywhere nearly as violent or explicit back then as there is today. I think Resident Evil was a huge watershed moment in the industry when it came to depiction of gore.
Now, whether or not you think that children are capable of handling that violence is one point, but the fact remains that games are rated, and that they are rated for a reason, and this video somewhat undermines the standard industry line of "violent games shouldn't be played by kids" that gets wheeled out as justification every time someone complains about videogame violence.
  • BabyJesus #41 2 years ago

@The morality police here, It's up to the parents to decide if their children are mature enough. FFS I bet half of you played Mortal Kombat at that age.
  • Trendyninja #42 2 years ago

I'm quite shocked that he has a son tbh, I actually thought he was gay as he always comes across so effeminate in his video interviews. And no I'm not being derogatory in any way, I'm genuinely surprised that's all.

  • coolbritannia #43 2 years ago

Actually yeah I thought he was gay too.
  • lucky_jim #44 2 years ago

    @darkmorgado

I agree with most of what you post on here, but the argument that "they weren't as realistic in my day" doesn't really hold too much water imo. People who were in their twenties in the Speccy/ C64 heyday were saying the same thing about Doom when it was released.

One thing I'm not sure about with age ratings though, they don't make it illegal for someone under that age to actually play the game or watch the film concerned, do they? I thought it just meant shops couldn't supply it to someone under that age. That seems sensible, as does letting parents have the final decision: but the corollary is that the hysteria about it should be called out for the absurdity it is.

When I say that parents need to take responsibility for the media their kids consume, I mean exactly that: the parent will (or should) know what their child is and isn't capable of. I saw Peter Jackson's Braindead and Bad Taste way before I was legally old enough to rent them myself, and I'm fine. Ok, I've got an insatiable hunger for human brains, but who hasn't?
  • Raz76 #45 2 years ago

As someone who is also a fan of the Half-life series and getting a bit impatient with it, I applaud all efforts to guilt Valve into giving us info on it.
  • Quixz #46 2 years ago

The little man is right, GET ON WITH IT VALVE! At least give us episode 3 :(
  • seanyboycorben #47 2 years ago

Who does Molyneux think he is?

He's a fucking liar, Fable 2 promised so much but was actually pretty crap. Milo isn't happening. He's a massive dreamer, and he has the audacity to post this smug video where he's using his child to sell his new game, and ramble some shit about Half Life 3.

I'll be giving Feeble 3 a miss. I hated Feeble 2, it took me a year to complete because I could only play 10-20 mins at a time because it was so bad. Being a Scotsman I had to get my money's worth. The day I finished it, I burned it in the fireplace.

.. anyone would think he had something to sell ...

(ponders how much EG are getting paid)
  • smelly #52 2 years ago

@salentino86: Actually molyneux DIDNT come up with fable. Big Blue Box came up with fable and molyneux bought them.
  • Drpwnage #53 2 years ago

    Half-Life 3

    /beg
    /beg
    /beg
    /beg
    (etc....)
  • smelly #54 2 years ago

Why is my comment about big blue box negated?

Fable wasnt molyneux's game.. he took credit like he always does.. but it was big blue box's game... If it was anyones "baby" it was Dene Carter's.
  • Sam81 #55 2 years ago

@smelly I don't think you know enough to say that. Dene, Simon and Peter had been working on games for a very long time, e.g. Dungeon Keeper @ Bargate. When BBB was founded, it was founded as a sattelite of Lionhead. The inital game (i.e. Wishworld) was a brainchild of all 3 of them. When BBB was in trouble, Lionhead took on the game (Project Ego, which by then was signed to MS for the Xbox) and became Fable.
The other fact is that the whole of Lionhead during 2003-2004, including Dene, Simon and Peter worked themselves to death (working 'till 3am wasn't uncommon) like the rest of us to get it finished. So saying "all Peter did was take credit" is not only unfair, it's factually incorrect.
