It's an impressive experiment, and done very well I would guess. This video however does not in any way showcase the tech. More info (with same crap video) from MIT News.

Yeah this is a neat experiment and all, but the image quality is absolute crap. If that's the best that can be done with the hardware, better give it a rest until Kinect 2.

Wait till next version? Are you crazy? It is important to start working on this now to foresee future problems. Hell, they have been working on this long before Kinect came along.
