I know it's safe to assume that you do control Snake this time.

But I'd just love it if there was yet another twist so that you end up controlling someone else for most of the game. It'd be like Kojima saying "HA! Tricked you again! How many times are you going to fall for it?"

I'm a little bit slow, I only just noticed one of the boxes said "No place for Hideo" :P

That was superb. I know it has no bearing on gameplay, but it's made me want the game even though I haven't played a MGS since the PS1!

So is Snake dying of cancer then? That's the impression I got, though as I say I've not played since the PS1 game.

Those Mechs are terrifying too, and Raiden looks an awesome character.

It's exclusives like these that make choosing a next gen machine difficult.

@ Lukus:

Not cancer, worse than that.
Snake was born by cloning, so his cells are unstable and he is dying with accelerated aging (a bit like that sheep, what was her name?)

I can't believe the hype surrounding the storyline of this series. I remember reading an article in Edge that included an interview with Kojima and he takes himself so seriously, like he's some high-level political commentator.

Sees - Dolly. I've not played MGS since spending much time on the PS demo. Basically, I've never touched MGS. I think I will after watching that though.

First variation of this movie that finally makes me want a PS3. I'm finally convinced.

Good trailer
...a bit long (but thats to be expected these days with Kojima), probably won't be getting the PS3 (not until a major price drop at least), but I'm still interested to see how this game turns out.

I just hope this time round Kojima remembers he's making 'interactive entertainment', and drops the movie making ambitions, enough with the epic length FMV sequences.

when's the projected release date for this?

Actually, it's not that, either. Not cancer, or accelerated aging. It's called 'FOXdie', and it's a heart-attack-inducing drug he was injected with during the Shadow Moses incident. Oh, sorry. **SPOILER**. Ah, well. Better late than never, eh?

Sony and Konami have spent lots of money on marketing for this series, but surely there are many better games out there.
Also I don't think Mr Kojima would have remained as popular as he is without the cut scenes in his games, as they make up 50% of every recent Metal Gear title.

Not really. Personal preference does play a part, sure, but these games consistently get sky high reviews and sales figures for a reason. I, and apparently a large number of fans, think they're pretty spiffy.

ManicDrunkMonk you are an arse hole that obviously is clueless as to the geniouse that is hideo kojima and his metal gear series he's a damn legend and my advice to you is to go into a very busy gameshow in japan and shout outloud that hideo kojima sucks along with the metal gear series and see how long it takes before lots of very angry gamers want to have a nice chat! you wouldn't so shut up and go and play something which has a very simple story so that your tiny brain can cope.
