Finally the animations are getting more realistic.
Looks good, hope it plays not too sluggish.
  • Sharzam #2 6 months ago

Good to see they have kept the ful arc shooting, one of the best things about max payne games was the ablity to fire from all angles. Whether your flying threw the air or lying on the ground.

Creates really fluid movement compared to alot of shooters.

Why doesn't he look like Marky Mark?!?!

Loved Max Payne 1 and 2 on the Xbox.
  • Adamical #6 6 months ago

    That looks great.
  • Nico4 #7 6 months ago

    this looks so good

Shooting and Max in snowy New York looks like a Max Payne game. I still HATE bald, hobo Max though and sunny Brazil is yet to win me over.
  • twoism #9 6 months ago

This is looking a lot better in motion than expected, I must say.
  • Madder-Max #10 6 months ago

meh. just what we need. another generic shooter
  • oceanmotion #11 6 months ago

Impressive animation, seems very well thought out but the game just looks like the same old stuff and rather like Max Payne skinned. Still, better than I thought it was going to be.

Looks a lot better than I was expecting, still don't like the brazil setting though...

Animation looks great. Hope they do sort out some decent AI though, all of the GTA games have had terrible AI. Speaking of GTA, I hope they steal the shooting tech from this for GTA. That's another area of GTA that needs work.

I'm glad to see that it does indeed look like a Max Payne game, despite the sunshine!
  • IMD1_Pk #15 6 months ago

Is anybody else concerned that they haven't shown a single dual wielding clip in that video!
  • Daeltaja #16 6 months ago

Since the site has changed, videos only load about 30% of the time... Sort it out Eurogamer!
  • couloir #17 6 months ago

@Daeltaja - yep, and even when they load they take ages to do so.

    sort that shit out EG.
  • chiefian #18 6 months ago

    Really enjoyed that!
  • LeChuckie #19 6 months ago

Max Payne is back. Rockstar will do him proud.
  • cloudskipa #20 6 months ago

Woot! Looks sweeet. Better than Uncharted as I suspected.
  • God_Octo #21 6 months ago

the animations look fantastic, but I'm not so sure about the textures. Plus, did anyone else think that all the reticules looked tiny? That's probably a good thing, but I kept losing them whilst watching the vid.
  • lolercopter #22 6 months ago

The video is not working on Opera. It's not the first. Where should I complain?

I love Rockstar's approach to trailers, can't wait for the GTA V gameplay series to start.
  • UkHardcore23 #24 6 months ago

    Thats looks pretty dam good.
  • Willazord #25 6 months ago

I must admit I was pretty sceptical about this game, what with it not being made by Remedy, but this actually looks rather good. They've even brought the old diving animations back!
  • cloudskipa #26 6 months ago

@Willazord Yeah I thought the same but Remedy have been there to offer a hand in the game allegedly.
  • hulkamania78 #27 6 months ago

Loved Max Payne can't wait the bald Brazilian max and the surroundings look like Flavela from modern warfare 2. Same sort of shadows and colours. Surroundings.

    .

    .
All things in that video should become a standard for all games being developed from now on.
  • UncleLou #32 6 months ago

Impressive. Rockstar/the Euphoria engine are simply miles ahead of the competition when it comes to animation and physics.
  • B1G_D #33 6 months ago

If they get all the animations realistic, then this could be a gun fetishist's/sadist's wet dream come true. Finally the Matrix in game form.
  • TazerFan #34 6 months ago

Just spent about 5 minutes trying to get that video to load (half the time the entire element doesn't even respond to my clicks). I think I'll just head to youtube instead, where I won't be forced to watch an ad before it starts playing.
  • MaxFN #35 6 months ago

    Eurogamer, fix your player!
  • Colliers #36 6 months ago

Hmmm. I just hope they keep it noir enough. The 2 first games were flawed, but I adored them for their unique atmosphere, narration and storytelling. Max Payne 2 might be one of my favorite games despite falling a bit flat at the end.

Loved this, looks exciting. However I hope for some dark gritty levels which I remember most from Max Payne. I don't like this setting at all :(
  • FireMonkey #38 6 months ago

@Eurogamer, You have called the video 'Targeting and shooting', but I think you'll find this is an intro to the Design and Technology Series as it explains what will be covered in that 5 parts of that series.

Check out the end of the video (3:57). It says:
Next up in the five part Design and Technology Series: Targeting and Shooting

So the actual Targeting and Shooting video and 4 others are still to come.

Edit: I put the quote tag around a bit of this text and it just shrunk all text after the the opening tag!

That looks pretty fantastic actually. I fucking loved the previous Max Payne games, and I was a little hesitant about this until I saw it. I'm intrigued to see quite how hyperbolic the statements about the fluidity of animation are. The fact that they model every bullet is interesting - the amount of overhead that introduces with such a large number of projectiles is non-trivial. Can't quite see what's wrong with raycasts though.

Anyway, that looks great. Count me in for diving about as Bald Max.
  • BillyBrush #40 6 months ago

To be honest i expected rather more...a lot of the 'features' were already there such as lying prone after a dive and being able to shoot anywhere off that. The animation systems...Ok but show max diving slo mo into a wall, or off high stairs, show us how it handles something more difficult than running left and right (yes they've got rid of Max's chicken dance when going left to right but that's not some jaw dropping acheivement). Interested to see there is a section with max in his old garb in the new york snow, the whole game should be that though...it was a mobster game as much as anything else, i can see the south american turrist types being very dull fodder.

These making of series trailers, yes they worked well for Red Dead and they sold copies of LA Noire, but what they showed there...I'm sure it will be fun as you almost can't go wrong with Max Payne (slo mo action, it'll work), but for me it wasn't that impressive at all.
  • dr_zoidthrob #41 6 months ago

"noo-arr"-ish narrative? I didn't think he was from Somerset
  • FireMonkey #42 6 months ago

@BillyBrush - As I said in my post just before, this is actually an announcement vid for the making of videos. I'm sure the actual videos will show more off when they are released.
  • anthonypappa #43 6 months ago

    looks fucking awesome, must admit.

wasn't keen on the brazil setting either, but it looks quite good, and seems they have kept a bit of new york in for good measure at the start.

and maybe you return there after you have battled you demons or something... and regrow some hair, who knows. can't wait though!

  • iamtheoneneo #44 6 months ago

yes please....the last 2 were amazing so more of the same is 100% the right call
  • xuiton #45 6 months ago

looks like uncharted with bullet time. max looks stupid with a shaved head.
  • DeadlyByDesign #46 6 months ago

Usually i am first on board the hype train....but was anyone else abit "meh" to this? The animations look a bit shonky (running loos stiff). When Max is being hit (repeatedly) by bullets he seem to not even flinch. Also the graphics are a bit sub par?
  • CHAZBIGPOTATO #47 6 months ago

Loved this and the sequel on Xbox..
  • mr.Gangsta #48 6 months ago

    Yeah... It realy looks good.
  • AdamAsunder #49 6 months ago

This wouldn't play for me so I went to youtube. What gives EG?

Anyhoo, looking good. Much like Red Dead I wasn't bothered about this until the first gameplay vids and now I'm very interested.
