Mass Effect 2's Soldier class

Published 14 January, 2010 Duration 1:52

The soldier class is not just your every day grunt, being a soldier means access to more weapons than any other class, as well as all ammo types and the ability to use concussive rounds and an adrenaline boost.

Every new Mass Effect 2 video depresses me further. The game looks wicked but Cristina Norman's enthusiasm for her "INCREDIBLE new shooter rpg" featuring "INCREDIBLE customization" seems INCREDIBLY forced. The big brother's diary room style character profiles, where the team mates one by one list there reasons, or lack there of, for following Shepard are so inappropriate for a game that is supposedly meant to appeal to people older than 16.

Bioware make terrible videos. They did the same with DA. Ignore it.

The game ends up to be better than their weak attempts to attract you to it.

agreed. Ignore the marketing presentation (because it likely *is* targeted to the teenage demographic) and stay with the actual abilities and wait for the reviews. Dragon Age's marketing was terrible, but the game turned out to be good.

Speak for yourself. I found DA's marketing to be consistent with the game's quality (i.e. not what I'd expect from BioWare). The marketing for the first Mass Effect, however, was pretty good. And the game turned out to be - for me - good.

Allegedly, the team that worked on DA influenced the sequel. If that's the case, things do not bode well for this franchise. Of course, I'll still play the game and probably enjoy it. Through gritted teeth, if need be. I did love Mass Effect.

Well yeah, there is this thing about GRRR darkness, gritty, mature!

But it turns out DA just had comical levels of blood and the rest was standard fantasy. They can boast all the grit and maturity they want for ME2, I am confident it'll be the standard science fiction.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to buy the sequel because I loved the first enough to not be put off by the advertising. The extra grit seems unnecessary, it's not like the first game was set in teletubby land but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. It's just worrying if these adverts really to reflect how bioware feel about their games.

@ChthonicEcho If that's the case, things do not bode well for this franchise.

I wouldn't pronounce doom and gloom for the franchise from the fact that you don't like the way it's marketed.

Admittedly the videos aren't exhiliarating but they sure are better than DA's. And _for me_ DA turned out to be a very good game, despite the completely missed marketing romp.

And I still like ME more than DA. I have good faith in this.

Read posts properly before responding to them. I said, if Mass Effect is designed similarly to Dragon Age, the franchise might be less than expected. Way to get overly sensitive and defensive.

Here's more context for you to work with. I love Mass Effect to death, and I liked nearly every Mass Effect 2 video that has been shown (save the documentary-esque interviews with party members). It's simply that the ME team says the DA team influenced them some. That is what worries me. Worries. I am not bashing the game.

I'd be in fanboyish denial much sooner than hating a Mass Effect game.
