Sorry but that is the worst fucking trailer I think I've ever seen. Do they want me to buy it or ignore it?

They were quick with DLC. Anyone would think this could have been in the VERY SHORT game in the first place.

From what I've been reading, I have the sneaking suspicion that these missions were originally part of the main game but were cut and used to make all this Jimmy DLC. Would explain why the main story is so bare bones with no sort of side quests to speak of.

looks better than the main game, which is a bit surreal.

also: hooray for exclusive DLC, where you end up with the second part of a story but not the first. ffs.

@Paperghost Agreed! Thought that seemed a bit stupid when I saw the teaser ad inn my 360 box.

I'll be buying it once it's lauched. Sure, Mafia 2 was short but i enjoyed every minute of it. For me this game was nothing short of pure brilliance.

I understand not everyone shared the same opinion as me though

If you go onto the take2 website there are a quite a few posts from people who did something with the PC version and uncovered anumber of chapters that were taken out of the game, that seemingly are now going to be DLC.

Still looks interesting. But i am starting to wonder if i should just not buy it and wait for the GOY edition where i would get all of the content that was going to be in the game originally before they cut it.

there's a collection of videos showing the content 2K removed from the game that was due to go in (jobs from Steve, being able to show permits for guns to cops, other stuff that's too awesome to think about without rolling my eyes).

in fact, there's a lot of things left in the finished game that clearly references the removed content, which is incredibly sloppy. (joe telling you while driving to "go see derek for jobs", even though he never has anything for you - just like everyone else on the map). or the fact jobs themselves have an icon on the map legend, but never show up because there aren't any.

it isn't a case of "well it detracts from the main story" either, because - spoiler time - imagine if you'd been doing jobs for derek the whole time, then find out near the end that he killed your father.

how much more punch would that have given that scene? as it was, it just felt like a number of flimsy coincidental excuses to wangle a shootout into the game.

apparently you can open / close trunks because originally you were supposed to be able to store bodies / guns in there. that got chopped, but the pointless opening is still there.

i genuinely have no clue what made them cut all of this stuff out.

I look forward to reading about the new DLC that allows you to store bodies and guns in trunks. :/

I'll definitely be getting this. Despite the very mixed review scores (and some flaws I'll attest to as well) Mafia II (PC version with 360 controller) proved to be my third best gaming experience of 2010 so far, some ways behind Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead Redemption.

The game was too linear for me to consider a second playthrough, but this looks like a great chance to get a bit of additional time in the wonderfully atmospheric and beautiful Empire City.
