Anyone else wondering why the mage is a woman? Since the wizards are supposed to be old like Gandalf, it seems odd.

I hope they aren't trying to copy Dragon Age though. I'm hoping this turns out good, and I have my eye on it, so I hope a LOTR game can actually be a good game for once.

Good luck to you guys. Looking promising so far.

Was a bit underwhelmed by the mage attacking the troll. Point and shoot? Hmmm we shall see....

The mage shooting is vastly underwhelming indeed..

The mage isn't a mage. There are only five of those in Middle Earth, I think. It's an elven 'loremaster'. Snowblind are bending the rules of Middle Earth a lot to create a mage-class. And that machine-gun staff is ridiculously out of place. Fireballs and lightning bolts could maybe, just about, be fitted into the LOTR mythos, but laser-miniguns definitely can't.!

Way to read the Silmarillion chaps and clearly do all your background research into the background of middle-earth...oh no wait, you haven't.

The "loremasters" spoken of in the books are ones who "know the ancient songs" and can speak to the animals, not have a rapid fire staff [that would be the five wizards, of which none were a) Elvish, b) women] and were generally perceived to be Elrond-esque (i.e. had a lot of knowledge, some "magical" ability, and were pretty ancient).

If this is what has become of the licence for LOTR games in recent years, and the White Council RPG was scrapped in favour of this, disappointed I am.

First video I've seen with mage combat, up to this point I thought it was a chick with a staff, maybe a female Elvish warrior who happened to like staves and spears, the decision to have a mage is kinda disappointing from an LOTR geek's point of view.

@ Hypertails - "an LOTR game can actually be good for once" Two Towers, Return of the King, Battle for Middle Earth (1 and 2) and LOTR Conquest were all good games, the only "bad" LOTR games of recent years were Fellowship, The Hobbit and War of the Ring (the Warcraft 3 looking RTS) In recent years at least the general rule has been that LOTR games have been good, a couple have even been great and I have high hopes for this one as well
