Running in the snow must be tiresome
  • JediMasterMalik #2 6 years ago

Looks glitchy, the enemy seemed to fall through the snow, and the enemies just repeated "what happened" like 20 times in a row. I like the use of motion blur though, and the saturation with explosions is nice too.

I think the enemy was supposed to sink into the snow, since the guy you play is knee deep in the stuff.

Is this an expert player video? I don't see any of the control issues the article described.

this game looks better and better every time i see it. the multiplayer in particular looks really entertaining

When this one gets to Russia, I'll be the first one to buy it, because i'm in love with the Lost Planet since the time they released the demo.

p.s. But that "what happened? what what what what happened?" thing really is annoying. I hope, they'll fix it in the final release. :(

Love the stumbling, and very nice explosions too.

What what what what what happened?

I don't like the snow blanket. No footprints and the dead just sink below the surface without leaving a trace. If you fall into snow, even deep fluffy snow, you leave an impression, you don't just sink like into liquid with it closing again above you.

Other than that it sounds good

Looks fantastic! You can ignore the sound issue, it'll just be because the game's won't have all the sound in yet... at least I hope so!

This game does not interest me at all..!

Tryed the demo ages ago and found it very dull.

Would like to try the online side...
  • spindizzy #11 6 years ago

@strangeed: I agree. For a game that seems to make a big deal of its snow, its a shame that it looks so unconvincing

i think the emphasis is on the action, gameplay and story. i somehow don't think "snow" is their number 1 selling point.

and as for bodies not leaving impressions in the snow and such, do you know how much processing time that would steal? you would need to have fully deformable terrain and the polycount would be pretty huge after a few bodies leave impressions. it's really just not practical, and honestly it doesn't bother me one bit. i play games for the enjoyment, not the quality of footprints in the snow...
  • JediMasterMalik #13 6 years ago

Hey, Stoopid, the point is, there are ways of making it look more convincing then that, it just looks lazy. I'd rather them use hard snow rather than quick-snow.
  • Bezzy #14 6 years ago

Eww. Anyone else see him do that "stumble" animation? I hope it's not one of those games where you have to wait for a pain animation to stop before you can shoot again.
  • jozz #15 6 years ago

Complaining about the snow is just retarded.

The first time I saw this game was the first time I had any interest in buying a 360. Reminds me of Metroid Prime, except played in third person (which MP should have been, imo) and with much lovelier looks. I hate to say it though, there seems to be some tearing in that video at times. :¬[

If this shapes up okay, and stays exclusive, I may have to buy a 360.
  • asphaltcowboy #17 6 years ago

I played the demo last night (finally!) and had no tearing at all! Beautiful!
  • Hypnopedia #18 6 years ago

If not having snow footprints / dust / slush / etc means a steady 50 / 60fps rate then I'd trade that any day of the week.

Really gets my goat - the same people that complain about stuff like that would be the same ones jumping on the forums complaining about the frame rate dipping / bloody screen tearing if it was implemented !

You can't have everything - even on next gen. COD2 is as smooth as a baby's bum, but yes, not massively detailed - but if it means I only die because of my own lack of gaming talent, rather than because the screen is jerking around like an epileptic on acid then that's fine in my book.

Personally, I would like to see this style and GoW gameplay.

only gay swing ass like that
  • neuroniky #22 6 years ago

My hype meter is running to "Stellar" level right now... this game was one of the two games that made me buy a 360 (the other being the excellent Dead Rising), and it is getting better and better...

... and I did like the snow effects, btw.
  • Hypnopedia #23 6 years ago

Agreed - great demo - Sod Xmas, bring on January!

    :)
