Lost Odyssey - TV Spot

Published 1 February, 2008 Duration 1:30

Microsoft has taken the unusual step of setting its latest Lost Odyssey trailer to the soundtrack of White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane, with all of the drug references carefully bowdlerised. Emo-hippy sub-genre ahoy?

    The first one to moan about the soundtrack dies!

    no sound at the office :p

    Normally cannot stand rpgs - especially Japanese ones, but even Western ones never really grab me - but there's something about this that seems to appeal.

    Can't say what it is - just seems to exude overtones of 'epic'...

    I have this. Gonna play it proper this weekend!

    so far I like what I see. The battle system could be better but it not that bad.

    nice graphics and story is good so far.

    bioreit > I'd be tempted to agree, but you know that every single thing in that trailer was from cutscenes. They had gameplay footage a while back, and it's identical to Final Fantasy's monotonous random battle turn-based combat thing.

    Of course if that's your thing, then great.

    I don't really dig the Jefferson Airplane, but "White Rabbit" is a timeless art piece. Love it.

    I broke down and ordered it earlier today :)

    The lead character looks like Ross Noble!

    Been playing this all day yesterday as I imported the PAL compatible Asian version for £25. I normally dislike Oriental RPGs because of the shitty writing and immaturity. This game feels like it was written by an adult. The dream mini-novels are damned good too.

    EDIT: Oh, and it's the first O-RPG I've ever played where you actually *want* to get the encounter rate up. The default random battle rate is spot on for most people's tastes I'll wager.

    I ordered the PAL/Asian version last Monday, hope it gets here soon.

    I ordered my copy from Renchi.com( a decent play-asia alternative, even if the shipping is a little more expensive) last Sunday. I didn't realise when I ordered it that they were out of stock.

    So, as I was preparing myself for the long wait, the very next day, I got an email saying they had restocked and shipped Lost Odyssey! It arrived at 12pm on tuesday, from Hong Kong... 2 days after I ordered it!! I couldn't believe how quick it was.

    They also give you an option to adjust the invoice cost to help get through customs without any extra charges. With a disclaimer telling you that it is technically tax evasion! Although, if it is lost in transit(or should I say, in it's odyssey...hehe), they will only refund you the amount you were invoiced... which is fair enough. Incidentally, I didn't bother with that, was invoiced for the full amount but didn't get stung by customs anyway.

    Almost as bad as Ubisoft using Teardrop for Assassins Creed. Absolutely no relevance at all.

    So, are Microsoft going to bother to advertise this, unlike with Blue Dragon? Encouraging.

    It looks pretty decent if you like this sorta thing (which I do), although that trailer - comprised of cutscene extracts - was pretty useless.

    @MasterNameless

    Same story here! But from Play-Asia. Hope that means I can get my soon too then.

    @Amazing Bryan

    Actually the music has more significance than it seems, and is actually a good fit. How far are you into the game?
  • MasterNameless #16 4 years ago

    @Raziel

    I think play-asia may have a lot more orders for this game, I found out from internet chatter that I could import the NTSC/J - English version, and everyone was saying to order it from play-asia. Renchi.com is not as well known, which is probably why they dispatched it so quickly.

    Shouldn't be too much longer, and if you love the genre like myself, it'll be worth the wait. ^_^

    @MasterNameless

    Kinda hoped they'd ship it on the same plane, though, mine has to go to Holland, so perhaps a few days more.
    Shouldnt be to long I hope, it's by far my favorite genre. Even the first game I'll ever import.

    whats the name of that song?
    been wanting to download it for ages but of course dont know the name, can anyone help me?
    (and I'm fairly looking forward to the game myself, whats the date?)

    Looks fantastic. Looks like the 360 finally has a Final Fantasy (in all but name), not including the port of XI. Anyone know how it's selling in Japan?

    @abrakababra
    The song is White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane. (It gives the name at the top mate)
  • wakka2k5 #20 4 years ago

    i dunno why they are using that song to advertise it, its not even in the game and the games soundtrack is quite good.
    there was a fair chunk of cutscenes in there but also some gameplay, its quite a good game i just finished it. and its deffo a FF apart from by name, and in contrast to blue dragon it has a far more mature and intense storyline.
    a must have for RPG fans

    all this epicness makes me long for Cloud, the Failure.
