Lost Odyssey - Battle footage

This in-game battle footage is the first combat specific trailer we've seen, illustrating the action element to fighting as well as equipment options. Five battle hardened warriors ganging up on those three wee fellas seems a touch unfair though.

    As good as Lost Oddysey looks, after playing FFXII and Rogue Galaxy I can't say the prospect of going back to turn-based combat appeals very much.

    I mean, just look how long and overblown it is to take out these three little enemies.

    It looks nice graphically. Although referring to Tirggerhappytel's comment it does take a while to kill the three enemies, but I'm sure it was done that slow in order to show the different attributes each character has. Personally I'd have just gotten them to just "Attack" rather than going through the various commands.

    In the actual game, those little guys have about 100HP each. lol!

    Turn Based Combat has it's place and certainly shouldn't be seen as automatically worse than attempts at realtime. I like turn based combat. The vid doesn't do itself many favours in being a bit cack handed with the menus and trying to show unnecessary stuff like equiping other items. On the whole now where near as long and overblown as Blue Dragon :).

    Not sure about 5 players in 1 battle, being a big turn based fan, i prefer 3 of you v how ever many enemies, this way you can pick and choose your personal faves to fight alongside you, rather than the whole bloody cast.

    Although FFXII was a step in the right direction for RPG combat, there is still space for these types of games :)

    Plus we haven't had a decent turn based game on X360 or Delaystation 3... *thinks* yes that's correct

    wow! great! Looks a lot like Blue Dragon (though even better, which seemed impossible, but it isn't!), love it! Pre-ordered so long ago. I want it bad.
    Mystwalker + 360 = RPGer dream come true.

    I found the Advance Wars advertisement that I had before the video started more entertaining then the actualy lost oddysey vid.

    What did you think of Blue Dragon, Apologie? Just gauging your response to Lost Odyssey based on that metric, if you don't mind.

    Don't think I can name a 'proper' turn-based RPG for the original Xbox (KotOR's combat has the same characteristics as FFXII and is in a league of its own) so its good to have this coming out. Makes my '360 first' decision easier too.
