(Though I absolutely love the game!!!)

It could have had as much to say as, for example, Bioshock or Metal Gear, but instead the game is all about the bangbangbang. Shame.

The voices are just a coincidence, I believe.
But well, you are correct, Killzone has a lot of wasted potential. See, I'm wondering how GG really want to portray the Helghast. In Killzone 2, you could somehow sympathize with them, but in Killzone 3 they turned into absolute monsters, especially Stahl and his soldiers. And in this movie, the Helghast are clearly the victims.
I hope they drop the current Killzone storyline and goes for a prequel the next time. Set during the First Extrasolar War, around the time of this video. Back then when the Helghans were attacked by the ISA for the first time, they didn't even use gas masks. This would be a perfect scenario to make the Helghans the protagonists. And there should be no actual main character. Just a first person camera and hands to hold a gun with. Player characters in first person games are not really necessary, and take away the immersion.
Even Half-Life and Crysis 2 mess up a little bit. Sure, the main characters never talk, but they have names. Why would the character need a name? And why would we need a character at all? Shouldn't the player be the character? Bioshock did this right. No name, no character. Maximum immersion.

I stopped very early on, because as much as I liked the storyline first time round, the choreography/ pacing/ scripting of each major scene is sloppy, sometimes breakable, and often contrived in comparison to Guerilla's effort. Neither criticism which can be levelled at KZ3, which is focused and well paced at all times, and the combat is replayable for combat's sake alone....this side of it never gets old, imho. Good job too, I guess.
But yes, shame there's no real story to add further spice to proceedings. All the emotive huffing and puffing and pulling rank stuff gets old fast, and although there are a few interesting points made about there not really being a villain in a war, the story seems to be just a throwaway something to build a glorious combat engine on. Hope KZ4 improves on this.

Fortunately enough for me the gameplay, visuals, AI and excellent multiplayer totally overshadowed the shit protagonists. I wonder what the americans made of it.
