Striking just the right balance between whimsy and depth, LittleBigPlanet has intrigued and enchanted many at this year's E3. This trailer is the perfect example of exactly how it has done so.

    I just love the look of this game! The thing about Ratchet & Clank, Jak, Banjo etc... is that they all kinda blend into one visually... same kind of feel and look, different lead characters.

    Lovely video, great style - expect nothing less than excellent presentation from these talented chaps.

    im suprised sony didnt licence the designs from this title for their Home social network. It would be a hell of a lot more appealling than the present second life looking shit they have in the pipeline.
    (then again nintendo and m.s seem to have covered cute user avatars pretty well)
  • Crovax20 #12 4 years ago

    Awesome. This game sure has charm!
  • Execta #13 4 years ago

    Sweet. Game of the Year.
  • penhalion #14 4 years ago

    I'll be devils advocate and say that you guys must realise that actually playing a level like this will consist of a lone sack-boy jumping over obstacles etc. etc. There will not be any cute cut to princess shots or emotes or anything.....you guys did realise this right? right?
  • makeamazing #15 4 years ago

    Not my type of game, but I think my kids will love it...
  • the_dudefather #16 4 years ago

    @penhalion

    a trailer for a game looks different than actualy playing the game?

    NO WAI!!

    (and there is emotes from what I gather)

    That just made me smile big time.

    This is such a brilliant looking game. And the best thing about it, it is a game, its not brown or first person or anything. Its creative!
  • mattniche #19 4 years ago

    Anything that use's The Bee's for the soundtrack cannot fail.
  • m0thr4 #20 4 years ago

    @penhalion

    I completely agree - although you missed out the part where you have to plan, design and build your level, which sounds utterly tedious. If I wanted to do that, I'd be a game designer, but I'm not... I like to do a different job for a living and then come home and play games that other people have designed for me.

    This trailer is awfully cute but is in no way representative of what the game will be like.

    "Anything that use's The Bee's for the soundtrack cannot fail."

    You guys are such suckers. That music is simply being used for this trailer... there's nothing to say it will appear in the game.
  • nedgip #22 4 years ago

    Gutted this isnt coming out ont he 360, It looks really funny!
  • mattigan #23 4 years ago

    Am I the only one who doesn't 'get it' ??
  • BastoJ #24 4 years ago

    @ mattigan

    I don't completely get it either, it looks cute and good fun potentially but... I can't see that many people having the patience to spend time making awesome levels. Especially if you make a minor mistake etc...

    Anyone from now on who complains of not wanting to make levels, can fuck right off. Not because you don't want to make levels, that's fine, but because you're complaining about it, in a game in which it's completely optional. And comes with a large set of levels already in the game.

    And mothr4, you're full of shit, how is this "in no way representative of what the game will be like"? It's fucking gameplay you idiot. The only thing that's different is the camera work, the rest is gameplay. Even the facial animation can be done in gameplay. If you're gonna talk negatively about a game, make sure you know something about it first.

    Okay, so strip away all the stuff that's been added purely for this trailer (the filters, transitions, and music) and what's left? Some animated characters staring into the camera waving and occasionally jumping about on a couple of platforms? Great.

    In which you do what exactly? This has never been properly explained. Are there enemies to encounter with any sort of AI? Things to collect? Puzzles to solve? Or is each level just a giant assault course over which you have to negotiate your way from point A to point B... because that sounds like it could get old really quickly.

    there does not appear to be AI, the game more uses level mechanisms and physical objects to create hazards, which can be mocked together to create enemies of sorts

    was watching a walkthrough video yesterday where the level creator made explosive rocket things which were shot at the player, and a 'Boss battle' style area where you had to bounce stuff at 'henchmen' who followed the player and dropped things at them

    its mostly more about having amusement park style animatronics as enemies rather that having traditional platform style AI enemies

    That's not the Bees, that's Jim Noir.
  • mattniche #30 4 years ago

    " That's not the Bees, that's Jim Noir "

    You are correct sir.
  • Bakerman #31 4 years ago

    @m0th4r
    "Assault courses" can be very fun if well thought out. I think Portal was one of the best games of last year, and that game only involves getting from point A to point B (with a few environmental hazards thrown in, which I'm sure will be present in LBP as well).

  • mal #32 4 years ago

    Anything that uses Jim Noir for the soundtrack cannot fail.

    Or something.
  • SpicyJeffburger #33 4 years ago

    What's the tune on the video?

    Edit: Jim Noir, got it.
