Striking just the right balance between whimsy and depth, LittleBigPlanet has intrigued and enchanted many at this year's E3. This trailer is the perfect example of exactly how it has done so.

I completely agree - although you missed out the part where you have to plan, design and build your level, which sounds utterly tedious. If I wanted to do that, I'd be a game designer, but I'm not... I like to do a different job for a living and then come home and play games that other people have designed for me.
This trailer is awfully cute but is in no way representative of what the game will be like.

You guys are such suckers. That music is simply being used for this trailer... there's nothing to say it will appear in the game.

I don't completely get it either, it looks cute and good fun potentially but... I can't see that many people having the patience to spend time making awesome levels. Especially if you make a minor mistake etc...

And mothr4, you're full of shit, how is this "in no way representative of what the game will be like"? It's fucking gameplay you idiot. The only thing that's different is the camera work, the rest is gameplay. Even the facial animation can be done in gameplay. If you're gonna talk negatively about a game, make sure you know something about it first.

Okay, so strip away all the stuff that's been added purely for this trailer (the filters, transitions, and music) and what's left? Some animated characters staring into the camera waving and occasionally jumping about on a couple of platforms? Great.

In which you do what exactly? This has never been properly explained. Are there enemies to encounter with any sort of AI? Things to collect? Puzzles to solve? Or is each level just a giant assault course over which you have to negotiate your way from point A to point B... because that sounds like it could get old really quickly.

was watching a walkthrough video yesterday where the level creator made explosive rocket things which were shot at the player, and a 'Boss battle' style area where you had to bounce stuff at 'henchmen' who followed the player and dropped things at them
its mostly more about having amusement park style animatronics as enemies rather that having traditional platform style AI enemies

You are correct sir.

"Assault courses" can be very fun if well thought out. I think Portal was one of the best games of last year, and that game only involves getting from point A to point B (with a few environmental hazards thrown in, which I'm sure will be present in LBP as well).

Or something.
