    I know this is pretty clever but it really shows up the limitations of Kinect (for this type of game anyway).
    Unless its on on rails type shooter its just not going to work effectively.
    I suspect even the 1st party devs understand this.

    Still, pretty clever stuff right there.

    "I can smell bull."

    I dont know, if they were trying to fool anyone, they might have Faked it "Working" :)

    Are you thinking "Man with Move standing behind him"?
    Move isant that bad. :)

    kj66246 - I'm not a fan of Kinect, but I think judging it on the strength of this video is pretty harsh. These guys are just enthusiastic modders, not developers with access to all the tools to refine the experience. The fact that it is able to run on PS3 AT ALL is pretty incredible.

    Surely you mean "played"
  • weejok #5 1 year ago

    WTF! He's moving his hand all over the place and the games doing nothing most of the time?
  • Widge #6 1 year ago

    Not sure about you guys but mentally I made a “HONK HONK” sound each time he did that hand push gesture.

    Load Killzone 3? HONK HONK.
  • mr2ange #7 1 year ago

    Plays almost as good as actual kinect FPS games would.
  • theonlyix #8 1 year ago

    this is great news for all PS3 owners!!
  • KayJay #9 1 year ago

    @smithdown
    Agreed tbh. Im sure 1st Party dev's could get more out of it.

    But it does pose a few questions. How are you going to move effectively or shoot accurately without some sort of physical interaction (Pad, buttons or stick). Its going to be very difficult.

    Im sure the 1st party devs are working on things, but I cant see a GOW Kinect Edition being released in the usual makeup.

    what's wrong if he's not actually controlling it? MS done the same at E3.

    What a waste of time. KZ3 supports Move (and works extremely well with it) which is far more superiour than Kinect for this type of game that requires speed and accuracy. He should have used Kinect for something more interesting. Yes I know this is proof-of-concept, but KZ3 is not the best game to demonstrate it with.
  • braydee89 #13 1 year ago

    All this shows is that the Kinect can work on a PS3. Those of you claiming it as proof that the Kinect won't work for FPS are clutching straws, the guy in the video clearly has no idea of what UI works best, only how to port the Kinect over to the PS3.
  • Bikram #14 1 year ago

    It's totally real, the modder is a friend of mine.
  • spiritsnake #15 1 year ago

    this news was on the ps3 scene site over the weekend, some group enabled the kinect to work with ps3 but its still in pre-alpha phase. this guy must have set up the required files and made a video to be "the first" on the net showing kinect with ps3. the stuff is legit that i can guarantee
  • onyxbox #16 1 year ago

    that looks really bad... just because you can.. doesn't mean you should.
  • djdavepz #17 1 year ago

    That looks painfully shit!

    I dont want to have to stand to play shooters, i play all night haha
  • Cjail #18 1 year ago

    Killzone working on Kinect!
    I would rather call that: Killzone sucking on Kinect!
  • MrChuckles #19 1 year ago

    I wonder if anyone will try and get the move controller working on the Xbox 360?

    No? I didn't think so...
  • M1chl #20 1 year ago

    Poor kid, Sony gonna sue his ass, thats for sure...
  • Goodfella #21 1 year ago

    Hmm, I would use the term 'working' very loosely in this case.
  • 43n1m4 #22 1 year ago

    I have Kinect, and it really works well in the release games. This video is more about modders who got Kinect working to the 'fumbling' stage. Nice work, but not really an indication of the potential - or strengths - of the Kinect controller.
  • deadduckz #23 1 year ago

    I think what they done is used it on the pc and then used the pc to emulate a controller which is connected into ps3, as there is no close up of the kiect in the ps3
  • Machiavellian #24 1 year ago

    But it does pose a few questions. How are you going to move effectively or shoot accurately without some sort of physical interaction (Pad, buttons or stick). Its going to be very difficult.

    Actually a modder showed how you can do this very easily with Kinect. One hand does movement. depending on where your arm is from your body, would depend on how fast you go forward and backward. The other hand does left/right/up/down. Shooting was done using the motion of shooting a gun where your hand would recoil. This works fine of course for shot guns and things that shoot one at a time, but for machine guns, that type of mechanic was not demonstrated.

    Anyway this video is just showing kinect on the PS3 not how well you can play a game like KZ3 using Kinect. The great thing about Kinect is that you do not have to do the full body tracking if you do not want to. Just using certain parts of the body improves speed and accuracy so I believe if someone really wanted to, they could make a decent KZ3 experience using Kinect.

    @braydee89

    No, its just fundamentally shit using a camera as a controller for an FPS.

    how do you actually move?
    -run on the spot?
    -stand at one side of the room or near the camera to go that way?

    Think about it. reagrdless of implementation method, it would be complete turd.

    Microsoft/developer of kinect games in this area have already done the best thing they can with it. it moves for you, and you aim and shoot.

    -Edit would the negative clicker like to actually reply to my opinion rather than just blindly clicking the "-" button

    Anyone that has an idea of how kinect would ever work with an fps, please raise you voice?

    How long did it take to load? I would have given up by then, that is pretty shocking.
  • orangpelupa #27 1 year ago

    @mr2ange

    haha...

    go to Youtube, search for video of Kinect Dead Space 2.

    it use Kinect + Wiimote on PC.
    looks awesome :)

    even the "Stomp" is really a "Stomp".

    and thats just a "hack" of current game that NOT designed to be used by Kinect wiimote.

    i just hope MS fast release the official Kinect SDK to PC. and wait for PC indie developer to make Kinect Wiimote game :D

    Kinect - You are the nunchuck!
  • mr2ange #29 1 year ago

    @orangpelupa

    So you're telling me that MS should start to release a peripheral for a peripheral?

    Something tells me that market may be a little shallow...

    I'm not saying you are wrong, because you clearly aren't. but unless ms admit that some form of controller is required then... hmm i better shutup before some xbox guys get angry at me...
