I *really* like the demo. first time i've played a game where i was happy for a shakycam to remain switched on, it works brilliantly with the odd graphical stylings. lynch seems to handle a lot better than kane did, and the difficulty seems to be higher too - i did have some trouble getting through certain sections while only playing on normal. also like the destructible cover, forces you to keep moving.

    looking forward to this one.

Had zero interest in the first, but this def looks good! I love the gritty real-life city setting. *Could* be a bloody great shooter.

Holy shit, this actually looks quite good! As brseg says..zero interest in this until seeing this video. Quite liking the camera style.

Now, if only I could get my mitts on the demo to see how she handles...

Looks really good. I'd rather have Kane as the main character, but otherwise I'm impressed. Although I was one of the few that really liked the original.

I really like the idea of the cheapy DV camera look, but I think it looks a bit weird because it's always attached to the player. It looks a bit gamey still.

I haven't played the demo yet, so I don't know if it feels different playing it.

I'm enjoying the demo - it's not really shaken off the shonkiness of the first one 100%, but it's definitely a huge improvement. The visual style is great, but part of me wishes they'd taken it even farther. It's ended up with a sort of odd mix of styles - you've got the documentary style, the live-action bits, and the mundane scenes of K&L eating and smoking that gives it a more down-to-earth realistic feel than most games, but you've also got the snappy controls, 60fps, and the fairly high bodycount for the shootouts that makes it feel quite videogamey. The visual style feels like it wants a slower-paced, chunkier sorta game.

This is definitely interesting and probably a first-day purchase for me, but still... imagine that style married with something like SWAT 4 or R6: Vegas.

As I was one of those weirdos that spent 20 seconds requesting the demo rather than whinging on here, I got to download it yesterday and it's really rather awesome. The visual style is odd but grew on me, the graphics are very good, clearly faaar better than the bland first title. The controls are also very tight, everything works as it should, although there doesn't seem to be much of an auto aim, so you need to line your shots up carefully.
On that note it is fairly tough even on Normal, I initially struggled quite a bit until I realised you need to keep using the cover that's dotted around and move from one to the next once yours is destroyed, you try to run and gun it at all and you die rather rapidly.

Got to agree on this one. I love the demo but was really unimpressed by the first game.
Initially it's very hard, but once you get the feel of it and use plenty of cover, it's great. Strong visual style and atmosphere. I especially love the varied title screen animations, too.
The multiplayer is also brilliant, always making you consider turning on your team mates for a higher personal reward :) The Undercover Cop mode is great fun and makes you totally paranoid, thinking everyone could be the 'cop' and out to shoot you in the back. Definitely picking this up and looking forward to playing through the story on co-op!

I'm already buying this, but I'll check the demo.

    @CYPRIOT-CleANER

Kane & Lynch is not an FPS.

Really disliking the demo, it looks like so much effort has gone in to very little. It looks very nice but that's about as far as it goes, the shakey camera takes away from the lack of atmosphere, and despite having the volume up loud and the subwoofer on full, the shotgun still sounded like I was shooting a silenced water pistol.

The controls were too sensitive and quick for me, which is strange as I'm a fan of fast paced shooters. The lack of feedback is also a worry, it's difficult to tell when you've been hit or hit someone.

Yet just like the first... I'm compelled to play the full game and finish the story off. Maybe it'll fair better in co-op.

    i like it.

I agree that the visual style and presentation suggests a slower more weighty type of gun play -- and the guns should be louder and feel punchier. It's great with big explosions that the camera distorts.

At the moment the slick fast paced action feels at odds with the style. Mind you on the video at the end of the story demo it looks even better especially when Lynch unloads with the mini uzi type gun.

edit -- it;s weird, in the videos of gameplay (just watched the Arcade mode tips) the guns do sound alot better, yet in the game when you play they sound weak. Still time to fix that though!

steadycam a must for me, good job there is an option for it

Really like the gritty, handy cam style. AI of the enemies looks wonky though.
  • haubitzer #21 2 years ago

This is really nice. I really like how you take a stray bullet and get knocked down and sort of hose down the place while crawling on your back, camera shaking, bullets snapping into things, particles everywhere. Like someone else said, it feels a bit too videogamey; you shoot too many people and the AI feels a bit mechanical, but as a low-level, second-to-second cinematic shooter it works great. Probably gonna pick this up.

Major glitch at around 4:08-> wow!

    Nevertheless this looks fuckin A!

I quite enjoyed the demo, Fragile Alliance is still fun as ever. A true test of trust and loyalty, and nothing is more important than money. Aw, good ole materialism. The whole 'shaky cam' aspect - I like it. At first, I thought the graphics were average but at least a step-up than it's predessor's and the same to the shooting mechanics as well. I love it when I sprint through the streets of Shanghai, whilst the camera is shaking, making a firefight situation much more tenser and injecting a sort of realism to it. This is interesting to see in a third person shooter, and hopefully the full game will be even better than the demo. Please don't let me down IO Interactive.
