He managed to not smirk or smile once when saying Wii.

Which is what seems to be happening round the office here - people are starting to accept it I think.

Very much looking forward to DS Lite and Wii :)

He's gained a bit of girth since the picture up to the right was taken... Nice bloke though.

It's good that he says that they're not just about the simple games...

As much as I like simple games, the way forward is every direction possible, not just one.

So what exactly is the persition (sorry about spelling my mind has gone blank) of the Game Boy Micro. He still hasn't answered the question. If theres one question I could ask Mr. Iwata it's that. Nintendo get it sorted.

The 'position' (or rather, the 'situation') with the GameBoy Micro is the same situation as with the rest of the GameBoy systems (GBA, and GBA SP). Nintendo have stayed (I believe) that the GameBoy has run it's course, and has been laid to rest. The Nintendo DS has taken over.

Of course, this doesn't mean that theres going to be no more new games for the GBA / SP / Micro. There still a lot of games lined up for the console :-)

"word [...] didn't even exist yet, we created it"

Sure... here, I invented a word too: Pii!

To be on topic, he dodged the question about DS - Wii connectivity quite scandalously. If this guy had another certain employer, he would be being flamed by every poster by now.

I wasn't impressed with him really. He just repeats what was said in the conference and didn't relate anything to UK gamers. And while he didn't completely confirm a 2006 release he strongly hinted at it.

I don't think Nintendo Japan / US tell the UK/Europe arm anything except what it decides "it needs to know" and that usually is very little. He didn't seem very forthcoming and more on the defensive. Compared to the Moore interview he was cagey. I'm not sure Yarnton himself believes that going after new gamers will be a successful strategy in the UK.

It is not the young end of the market he has to break its the much more skeptical older market, there has been success with the DS and there is the potential with the Wii.The killer app for the Wii may be a "proper" golf game... some like Links or Tiger Woods...

Still, the Wii is the only console I'm buying at launch, unless I get a PS3 to stick on ebay.

Before this interview i was 100% certain i wanted to get a Wii, im really not so sure now, from what he said, i dont know i just wasnt conviced by him really, i thought a lot of it was media spin which took the shine away a little.

I would also like to add that what he said about the graphics of the system i thought was nonsence. I will admit that i am a nintendo fanboy, ive no shame in that, but for the first time in a long time, i strongly disagreed with something that came out of nintendo. His "graphics can only go so far" even made me slightly angry, because the graphics are nowhere near so far for the Wi.i NO-WHERE NEAR!
